My first time with Lemon Haze. Is there anyone with previous experience that could kindly tell me the average flowering time? I’m week 7 of flowering on Monday. I’ve read this strain sometimes takes up to 12 weeks to be ready for plucking. Thanks again for any/all input and tips!!
The “hazes” are sativa dominant so you could expect longer flowering times. How about a picture in natural light?
Those are about the best photos I have right now. They’re about 4 days old. I don’t have a “good” light, I made it. It’s a 48” fluorescent fixture-2 bulbs=80 watts and 6 standard fixtures, 3 on each side evenly spaced with 60 watt equivalent LED Plant Light bulbs. Having great results thus far.
Thanks again, Myfriendis410!!
Based on the appearance I would have said they were only a month or so into flower. So you would have 2 more months of that. I don’t know if the lower light intensity has anything to do with it.
You’re probably very correct as I just realized those photos are, I think, a week old or even older. I’ll go take more in a few minutes. I’m almost positive the intensity will also cause them to not fill so big/dense. I have Mylar film coming in a couple days. I’ve had several very successful outdoor grows but I’m just getting started inside.
4 plants. 18” height, average
If you were to consider upgrading your lights; now is the time. Cannabis plants do very well in lower light intensity until they flower. Then they want about as much light as you can throw at em. If you added a few hundred watts of photons the bud density will explode. Like not being able to get both hands around the cola. That’s typical.
Alright, here’s the deal! Lol. I’m growing because we’re poor due to high weed prices. I need energy efficient lighting, aka: LED.
Would, say, 2 full spectrum 250watt LED full spectrum grow lights be sufficient, do you think? Added to my fluorescent fixture. Right now, I don’t know the exact lumens, 2100x2-fluorescent bulbs, 6x450-600nm(?)-LED Plant Bulbs. Totaling 360 watts full spectrum + 80 watt daylight fluorescent = 440 watts.
Light measurements are 48” x 25.5”
Typically led lights show an “equivalent” number of watts. So a 60watt equivalent led bulb may really only pulls 17watts. The actual draw is usually listed on the packaging somewhere.
The rule of thumb for blurple led lighting is 50watts at the wall for each sq ft of growing space
You could pick up a couple of Amazon blurple lights which will help immensely. There are better options available but the cost jumps as the tech improves. Just be sure to look at the specs of the light and look at the power draw from the wall. 50 watts per square foot is a good place to start.
here is the resident guru to lighting on here. @dbrn32 i’m sure he’ll chime in when he gets a chance as i tagged him. he will help you out, just give him the variables and he will find a workable solution for you.
Nice plants! Quality led lights don’t usually fit in real well with challenged budgets. And the budget Amazon panels don’t usually perform any better than a hps light. So you can see the dilemma there, kinda takes a little cash to save a little cash.
Either way, your grow would definitely benefit from more light.
Thank you dbrn32! I plan on eventually upgrading my entire setup. Surprisingly enough, my cheap setup is actually pretty efficient for what it is, in my thoughts anyways. I have reflective Mylar coming for my walls and 2 Amazon led panels, that I’m still trying to figure how to add them to my current setup.
After I harvest the Lemon I plan on changing my layout and running autoflowers. I bought the auto mix pack-Amnesia Haze, Blueberry and Northern Lights. As we save money we will have the ability to begin upgrading. If you’re the “Light Guy” I’ll most likely be asking you tons of questions. Just a heads up.
Thanks for everything, everyone!!
Thanks monk man! I appreciate you tagging dbrn32! He’s been very helpful with just a single response.
Not trying to boast or anything, but I’ve done a couple years of intense research before even attempting an indoor grow. So, I’m pretty sure, for my equipment/money I have a decent setup. As I gain experience and flowers my setup will upgrade.
My goals are to run at least 6 autoflowers at the same time, adding 2 every 2 weeks afterward to keep harvesting every couple weeks.
sounds like a good plan to me @LFoux and i love the strains you got in the auto pack. i am eventually going to try to have 6 plants in each of my flower and veg tents with them staggered to harvest every 3 weeks or so. i have been following Mattybear and am copying his “short veg” strategy to keep plants some what small. i don’t want a lot of quantity, don’t need it, but want a lot of variety in what i will smoke.
Is that the 4-6 week veg then flip to flowering? What technique are you using, SOG or SCROG?
This being my third indoor grow I realized I was using LST and topping as if I were limited on space, which I definitely am not.
That being said, even these Lemon Haze got topped early, starting with my next round-autos- I’m only going to tie back leaves for light passage. Let the plants perform how they’d like.
I really like being able to talk on here and get info. Thanks for everything ILGM!
yep, just 4 or 6 weeks instead of 2 or 3 months. for plant control i am just going to be doing LST. i do not want to top my plant because in my day the center bud was the best so you didn’t mess with it. because i’m shooting for only 2 or 3 oz’s dry from each plant i don’t need to do a scrog. but keep in mind, my first grow is only 17 days old lol. there are plans, then there is adapting to first contact with the enemy(murphy). i still don’t have my tent yet lol. but i’m going to bend the center stem to the side to allow light to lower buds. this grow is 4 or 5 5 gallon cloth pots with all white widow fems. i hope to do multiple strains by my third grow, but that depends on how confident i am after second grow. it could be 2 to 5 years before i am capable of doing what Mattybear does with his plants, but it appears to me that he has the same goal as i want to have. which is multiple strains to smoke in an easily handled grow situation. i figure to smoke 6 to 8 oz’s in the three months between harvests so that is my goal in what i want for quantity. most strains on here say something along the lines of 14 to 18 oz’s from a sq. meter of grow area. i don’t need 14 to 18 and to get that you have to let your plants grow more in veg so they fill out the whole 4 ft area which you maximize by scrogging. with only needing 6 to 8 i can keep plants small, they have less time to gather problems which also makes it easier. but all this could change after i have a few grows under my belt or if my life situation changes. @LFoux
if you want a good laugh at how inept i have been in putting my grow together my grow journal is Monk’s first try. it will also show my anxiety and paranoia in doing this the first time lol.
No doubt!! I’m with you as far as needs as well man. We only use about 2oz/mo. But at the same time we have a bunch of buddies that are ALWAYS on the look. And if I can move enough to pay for itself with a small profit that’s more than what we need and will lighten financial burdens. However, even if I only cultivate, like you, approximately half pound per 3 months we’d be set right there. $500+/mo is a hefty habit.
I’m not using tents. I have a 2 room basement. 1 is my garage, as I’m a mechanic/stay-at-home-dad, the other is the room I’m turning into my grow room. Basically why I’m going to run all autos for awhile. Stack some cash to separate the room for flower/veg. That’s a ways off yet, probably. @monkman
