Lighting question
I was watching a YouTube video “thinkgrow LED 101” buy “thinkgrowLED” Basically My confusion is The light manufacturer gives me a certain distance from the canopy top at a particular stage of growth but not the adjustment settings and what this individual was saying that you could place your lights at like 12 inches above canopy top and then set the adjustable setting on your lights accord The stage of growth. does anybody else have any ideals on this thanks for looking at it have a good day

It’s all a balancing act between power consumption, DLI, and heat. Too close can produce too much heat. Too far can reduce daily light requirements. Too high a setting can use too much power.
one thing to consider: lights normally are less efficient with power maxed out. ~80% is probably more efficient.
If the mfr says to put the light X inches from the canopy but you burn your plants from light or heat stress WTF? They aren’t growing in your environment. …but more importantly you aren’t growing in theirs. They’ve set up perfect conditions with humidity, cooling, air recirculation, etc …all dialed in.
The key is to find your sweet spot in your setup. Set the light at X distance to X power. Take temp and PPFD readings. Adjust as needed.
It could be that higher with a bit more power allows the heat to dissipate without frying or bleaching your tops.

Thank you for the insight and I kind of had an ideal that’s what it was but being new at this, I needed to hear it from somebody else. sometimes I wish this was a hobby that you could sit down with a cup of coffee I just chat with someone about.

You do have that and a lot more, but my keyboard skills are not up for the task.
I’ve read a lot from the Form, some of the simple things I’ve ran across that should have been Obvious and some how I over looked them.
This reminds me a great deal of the Old BBS days only it’s real time
