I’m going to purchase a Gorilla Shorty 2x2.5x5 tent and was wondering what the best light for it would be?
I’ve been stuck on AC Infinity products whilst doing my research as initially I wanted their full kit but now that I’m buying a different tent I’m open to other brands.
I’ve been looking at the EVO4 which I know might be considered overkill for my tent size but if I ever get to upgrade it in the future at least I’ll be set in terms of the light.
I’d like to hear others thoughts and recommendations please as this will be my first grow tent.
What are you hoping to harvest out of the 2x2.5 tent? A quality light in the neighborhood of 150 watts or so would provide a nice grow in this sized tent. But if you’re looking to pull every gram possible out of it you’ll want a bigger light.
I’m not sure as this will be my first ever grow. I was looking to start with x2 3gal pots using autoflowers. Once I get more experienced I’d like to pack the tent out but again not sure what size pots etc
I just wanted to make the light purchase right from the start so I’m not having to upgrade in the future. I read on various forums that a lot of people with 2x2 upgrade from the 150W light to a S33 (260W) or even EVO 4.
This is why i asked before recommending a light. There’s a lot of scenarios where having a smaller or larger light can be justified. I don’t really consider ac infinity lights high end despit their use of all the buzz words.
They’re certainly not the worst either. One thing about ac infinity that has turned me off is that customer service has seemed to fall off a bit. They are responsive but sometimes takes a little time. And you may have to talk to several different people in order to solve anything even semi-technical. But in my experience they’re pretty quick to try and offer a discount code to get you go away. Two different times they were unable to get me a part I needed and their best solution was to give me a discount on a new and “improved” model. The problem was I didn’t need or want the improvements and my 1 year old model was a much better fit for what I was doing, but they discontinued and were no longer providing parts for my model. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
Your harvest potential won’t really change with the amount of plants you have either. You can grow 1 plant to fill the space or 4 plants, as long as canopy is managed equally well you could expect roughly same harvest. Having a bigger light will increase your harvest potential, as will high yielding genetics vs low yielding genetics.
If you’re ambitious and not really constrained by a tight budget I would get something on the slightly larger size with dimming capabilities. This way you will have the ability to push lighting levels if you want, but also the ability to dim to more modest light intensity levels if needed. A little flexibility in your light can go a long way.
I have spider farmer se3000. It is coverage for a 3x3. The tent i have is an odd size that spider farmer made to accommodate that light. I call it a 2x2 but its actually 27x27x63. It would fit one direction but that 2’ side would be short. The light frame itself is 24x24.
@proxybrowser I looked at the gorilla tents when i shopping around. They make a super nice tent. But unless your dead set on that brand and it being extendable there are some cheaper options that would work and youd have extra light money lol. Im really happy with my little spider farmer set up! Hope this helps.
