I have very little knowledge in this area, I acquired a few White Widow seeds and want to start one or two plants indoors. I have not acquired a light or tent yet but saw a few posts about Quantum LEDs and iPower tents. I have a small hidden room in my basement with no outside light sources but it can get cold in the winter.
Any suggestions for LED light for one or two plants?
Any approachable/affordable tent solutions that are not poor quality and wont be a pain to setup?
I know I am asking a broad question and that sharing your knowledge and experience takes time, thank you in advance!
This light was recommended to me and ive been happy with the results as far as growing two Autoflowers. 2022 SPIDER FARMER SF2000 LED Grow Lights with Samsung LM301B Diodes & Dimmable Lights Full Spectrum Growing Lamp for Indoor Plants Hydroponics Veg Bloom for 4x2/3x3 Grow Tent 200W https://a.co/d/iggGPqA
im new to growing also. I was also highly advised to look for panels with the samsung LM301b diodes. For my budget this light has been amazing. but my experience is also limited to it.
As for a tent I got a green hut. it was very budget friendly and I was amazed by the quality for the price really. thick material, sturdy frame, and pretty heavy duty zippers.
I can only tell you what I use. I bought a 2x4 tent from Sun Hut which is actually a little bigger than 2x4 because they are reasonably priced, and an growtek 6ā exhaust fan from Amazon, and a refurbished hlg 350r light. Does the job for me. But said and done, if youāre starting from scratch, to get the stuff to really succeed youāre going to end up spending around $1,000 by the time you get a quality light, tent, exhaust, pots, nutrients, and several other misc. supplies. But youāll be set for a long time.
very well said and great advice. I know I have over 1200 in my setup and still have items I need. my recommendations are just items that Im satisfied with and I have for sure made some very disappointing purchases along the way, but I am buying on a budget. So OP please take my advice as very limited experience and budget. I try to take in to account all recommendations and then get the best of those within my budget. Growing has been one of most enjoyable hobbies ive takin on a while. I hope you succeed and enjoy it as much as I have. Very smart to seek advice most of my regrettably purchases were made off of reviews and google search recommendation list. Some companies are very shady and good at getting to the top of google
Thanks all for the advice!!! I am looking at HLG lighting right now (hat tip to @Deepsix for sale!) and will update the thread as I learn. I would prefer to get quality gear upfront.
Yep, I spent a lot of money on stuff over the years that I shouldnāt have. Got it figured out now finally. And I no longer use chemical nutrients either. I use the fox farm fruit and flower 4-9-3, and worm castings. Easy, cheap, and effective. My last plant was the best Iāve ever grown.
do you already have a filter and fan? if not the ac infinity was the most recommended to me and I just recently purchased a 6 inch one and very happy with it.
If Iād spent the money I wasted on vivosun stuff on ac infinity gear Iād have a top notch setup right now. Live and learn I guess. But Iām always glad when first time growerās ask about what to get. That way they can avoid our mistakes and not end up with $5 or 600 or more worth of stuff sitting around they had to replace with something better. Wish Iād been on this forum about a week sooner andā¦
Well Iāll piggyback on the last comment and say I did get AC Infinity tent and ventilation fans and feel like I dodged bullets by getting quality at the get go
I couldnāt be happier with the tents and fans (yeah I got a second oneš)
As for lights, I have a top tier light hlg 300L that is greatā¦ that being said, if you on a budget, I obtained (won) a bloom plus BP 3000 that costs less, and works great. Only con to that light Iāve seen is that it doesnāt have a dimmer switch. That can be remedied by simply adjusting height of light
Can not recommend the ac infinity tents and vent fans enough though
If your basement space is cold, you could put the tent on of foam insulation boards. I picked up some inch 2x4ās at Home Depot. I also drape a sleeping bag over the top and back of the tent. My temps went from the 60ās to a steady 76F.
