I am a new outdoor grower in New York. The weather is getting colder at night (55 degrees so far), and it has been raining and cloudy for days now. I planned to harvest this week because the temperatures are going to drop below 50 degrees. I noticed brown soft spots on three plants and harvested all five plants that I had growing. I cut off the wet brown buds; they are mushy and sticky. I keep reading that mold is gray, but the pictures I see look like the brown stuff on my plants. Is this bud rot? Thanks for the help.
Hard to say without seeing it but more then likely bud rot
Yes
Pics or it didn’t happen.
Welcome to the forum.
I just uploaded the pics.
Definitely rot sorry my friend
Also welcome to the forum
That is some nasty bud rot…some of the worst that I have seen. Bummer!
Thanks. I lost many buds, but I still have a good number.
Sadness and sorrow
Thanks for the help.
That confirms what I thought. Thanks for your help.
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to see bud rot. I would bend the buds and get a look in the middle. Throw out anything brown. Not worth the risk.
It’s botrytis (aka grey mold) because, if you look under a microscope, the mold is grey. It kills the leaves and buds turning them brown.
Remove at least a few inches on both sides of the rot to be safe and still do a bud wash with H2o2 before drying.
Thanks for your help. I cut away all the brown. I hope that what I have left and am drying now is good to go.
I feel your pain, I have had bud rot and it sucks.
Welcome to the neighborhood.
Yep, I’m in Western NY and caught bud rot real early and decided to harvest…it’s curing now but I have to find time to try it when I can safely trip b@lls if it’s too racy of a high lol
That time of year and really sucks
Pay it to the game
That sucks, but welcome…?
That explains it. Gray mold equals brown rot. Thanks.
