Is this the colas forming? Plant is about 5 weeks old exactly right now. Does that look on schedule for what you can see? They’re autoflowers by the way. You can see about five of them total currently. Thanks guys
Yup starting to form bud sites.
Thanks man! More colas mean more buds right? And is there any type of good amount of colas? I can see about five now I’m sure more will form.
In theory…yes, you’ll have more bud but there are more factors to the equation. Light intensity and distance, nutrients, light time…etc. Five for that size plant is pretty good, she should stretch so you may get more than you think. Are you gonna run the lights at 12/12?
Right now it’s running at 20/4. I was told once you get to flowering drop it to 12/12. Currently it’s still in veg stage if I’m correct. I’m worried I’m gonna have buy a bigger tent I have three plants in a 24x24x48 tent and I really feel like it’s gonna be too small. However one plant is only a seedling so it shouldn’t be much in the way. I’ve heard I should top it and I’ve also heard leave it be. Any idea on all that^ sorry! Lol
Yah that is the flower starting to form that will be the start of a cola
Its an auto, so I’d go 12/12, but you have other plants in there that are still vegging correct? If so, then you’d mess them up by flipping to 12/12. Are all the plants the same age approximately? Ya…you’re kinda pushing it with 3 plants in that size tent. I started that size, but only grew 2 and that was full as hell. As far as topping, too late now on the flowering girl. I never top a flowering plant, some others may but not me.
Only thing you can do is either get another veg tent setup or leave the lights where they are. Autos do their own thing, which is why I only grow photos.
you only need to drop it to 12/12 for flowering for photoperiod plants. as you can see yours is already flowering and you can run 20/4 for as long as you’d like. sometimes you get a stubborn auto that just won’t flip, and in that case yes you will change it to 12/12 to encourage flowering.
That’s what I hear, I haven’t ever grown autos.
Yea that was kinda my worry! However the seedling will be literally the size of the current pic I sent when the others are ready to harvest so thankfully it won’t take up much room I basically did that on purpose to try to fit them all in the same tent. I’m just hoping they don’t keep growing up a em stay a bit shorter because it’s only like 2 feet left till the top of the tent because the bucket size etc
Thanks for the insight man!
The stretch is real on some strains, just monitor and keep us updated. I assume you have the inline fan and filter inside the tent? If so, maybe relocate it to the outside?
I’ll keep responding here as she grows! I appreciate the help guys! And yea have constant air blowing on them and filtering out as well.
@kjcarr24 foing with Highwayman on the the lighting schedule of 12/12 even on autos. I grow both and mainly multiple autos at a time. The plant can only consume so much light before it needs a rest. I’ve even grown on a 6/2 with great results. My seedlings are 24 hours on under a T5 until day 10-12, then I transplant and run 18/6 for the veg period of 3-4 weeks. Around this time you’ll notice some preflower or flowering starting, once I see nice pistils around the 2nd -3rd week, I dial it down to 12/12. Make sure your light height is and DLI are set. They should be around the middle to end of the stretch by then
Do you think my plant is close to the 12/12 cycle? I had been thinking I should give them some more rest.
Run them out for a few more weeks. I’ve had some strains love lighting intensity at 18/6 and a different strain growing right beside it that was the opposite. Your daily observation is the best guide to follow. Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve ran 6/2 after veg through flower, 18/6 as well. Ether way I like to see a full head of white pistils, see how she’s taking the light before I make a decision. Sometimes it’s just a lighting height and intensity adjustment.
If it’s auto get it to 18 on and 6 off and leave it like that the whole run til the last 2 weeks then u can dial it down slowly if u want but not needed. An auto does what it wants when it wants. To much light leaking or too bright of lights at lights out and they can Hermie but so far I’ve never had an issue with any herming on me and I don’t have a door on the spare bath I grow autos in. Totally open to the stove light being on all. Ight long with a glow in that room always 18 6 will do her good as she gets enough rest but gets all the lighting she needs during lights on. Good luck. @Nicky @Not2SureYet r awesome auto growers. Maybe they will help guide u thru the auto field.
I am pretty much with @Mark0427 here. I like the 16/8. But autos will do good on most schedule’s after they hit flower. You can run them 12/12 from the start. But I think they start a little faster with at least a 14/10 or better light. I have an auto now on a 12/12 from start. It is in a flowering tent with photos. Doing good so far You never want to top any thing once you get into flower. Or where you are at now. You will just be loosing that bud site. Just curios what sized pot that is too. Some thing I have learned from my autos.
Get then into final pots as soon as you can. You will see a big difference in how fast they start growing. I try to be getting mine into final pots by day 7 - 10. Leave them in a small space to long and they will grow. Just at a pretty slow rate. Yours should start to stretch a little now
@Mark0427 pretends not to know autos. But he is pretty sharp when it comes to them
Right now they’re both flowering in five gallon pots where they started at from seedlings. Germinated then put directly into soil. One is about a week ahead of the other one and both are growing well one is about a week into flowering other is just starting now. Should I move from the 20/4 to 18/6 for say 3 weeks then dial it down to 12/12 until they’re both done? Thanks guys!
