Does anyone know if maybe I should switch the light schedule? I’m on 18/6, one plant is well into flowering and the other isn’t even showing any. It’s just bushing out. I was thinking 12/12 but I see a lot of people say the bud outcome won’t be as much?

Most folks will run 18/6 for an auto’s entire lifecycle. Some will back down to 12/12 temporarily to encourage flowering.

Is there a good amount of time that’s recommended ? The one plant that isn’t flowering yet is taking about half the tent already so I just want to make sure I have enough room in the 3x3 . I don’t wanna mess with the one that is flowering at the same time. Wasn’t sure if that would be an issue. @MidwestGuy
Autos don’t generally care about how long the light cycle is, though it is a good idea to give cannabis as much light as possible. So long as both of them are autos it shouldn’t matter.
Autos are mature enough to flower at some point between 4 and 9 weeks.

They are correct. They flower some time in that range. I run my autos 20/4. They went into flowering but I’m keeping the same schedule.
I’d say, give it a little longer and if it still doesn’t switch the flowering, change to 12/12. It won’t affect the auto that’s currently flowering but there’s a possibility that one of your autos is actually a photo period.

That would throw things off a bit then lol. I didn’t know that it could possibly be a photo. I will give it a week I guess then see where she is at.
Nice looking plants if you choose to go to 12/12 light schedule it should encourage the other one to start flowering , before you run out of space. You can also finish on 12/12 and they’ll be fine. Good luck

Yeah… its rare but it does happen. Usually if you get one auto, the rest will be autos. As you mentioned, give her a little longer, she might come around on her own. Keep us posted!

I have read 12/12 for flower 24 hr for veg, I have read 24hr for veg and 20/4 for flower, I have also read 24hrs a day 7 days a week (for auto’s) I’m glad you asked this question. I noticed a lot of answers read something like 12/12 or 18/6 but no one said 24hrs a day. Reading on the boards can be confusing sometimes because you can read something from an old thread that at the time was the consensus but now 5yrs later, everybody knows different, it just isn’t covered in the antique thread you have been reading. OP, if it’s cool with you, can we turn this question, into a discussion? What are the bennies of a night cycle for autoflower, if any? What do plants do, in the dark, that might be missed in a 24 hr light schedule? What, if any, problems might arise in a indoor grow environment, during dark period, that a novice cultivator could be unaware of? Good luck on growing to all of us eh?

That would be a good discussion, 24 hour would really run up an electric bill I would assume with the led light I’m running. 18/6 and I had over a hundred dollars added on each month lol. @Docnraq

24/0 would certainly run up your electric bill. Just based on my reading on the web, I’ve heard the dark will increase THC. That could be a myth though. Instead of running mine 24/0, I chose 20/4. At least they get a little bit of dark. I do know autos are a different breed from photo period and you shouldn’t sway away too much from the 18/6, 12/12 schedules for photos.

Wow, that seems really expensive. Mine is small to be sure but only runs 150W from the wall. CFL’s are pretty cheap to run also…I suppose it depends where you live and what you got going on. I already spend 5k a year at the dispensary so if I can grow for underneath that I’ll be happy.

The auto flower plants in circulation have been crossed with photo plants for desirable characteristics. What you are probably seeing is a plant that has recessive gene. Not a mix up with seeds or anything like that. This stuff happens all the time. To get mostly auto seeds they have to be recrossed several times, and then not always 100% guaranteed every single seed will flower on its own.
Furthermore, there is no reason to use longer than 12 hour light schedule for flowering if you have good lights density. You can with most autos, but large gains there are usually just because of low dli number associated with weak lights. If you are at or above recommended light density, then the plants are close to producing as much energy as they can.
You will likely need to drop to 12 hour schedule to get plant 2 to flower. If you are close to running out space, you should do it soon.
