Is the stretch considered in the flowering time too?

Hello,

If a breeder announces 8 weeks flowering, is it with the stretch?

Ty!

No. We typically count from when it stops. Time suggested is just an average.

Most consider the start of flower to be when the bud sites begin producing multiple pistils indicating that actual flower are physically forming.

Who knows how breeders come up with the numbers exactly :man_shrugging:

From my experience, I use theirs numbers as a baseline.

If they say 8 weeks flower then I expect around 10 weeks from flip (setting timer to 12/12 for photo period plants)

Or if they say 10 weeks flower, I expect 12 weeks from flip and so on.

Typically I consider the first 2 weeks after timer charge to be “transition”, they could or could not streach much so trying to watch for the stretching to stop could be hard to tell.

Auto flowers are different of course because we don’t flip them. I start counting once I notice white hairs start to group together at the tops of branches as week one.

I just keep in mind to add 2 weeks for transition and around the 8 week mark i just go off what the plant looks like.

If its still full of fresh white hairs then I know its got a couple weeks left, if most all the hairs have turned dark by then, I’ll start looking at the trichomes…

It’s a good idea to when you think it’s done, give it 1 more week to be sure
Way better to go over then under …

So if they say flower time 10-12 weeks does that mean from time they were flipped or from when first flower forms??

Happy Growing…

So many variables, like is the strain an indica or full on sativa? What quality lights are being used? Is the seller trying to market a quicker turnaround to drum up business? It’s best to use their info as a rough guesstimate and study the individual plants as you near your suspected harvest window. Just an opinion lol

Normally there is 2 weeks where you flip the plant and then flowering time starts after that. Most breeders use this method for their times.
Veg stage
2 weeks of flipping
Flower stage starts

I start counting from here and they are still stretching at this point.

Exactly! How can you not call that in flower when there are flowers formed on them!! Spot on Brother, when I see pistols and lil hedgehogs, I call it flowering. I don’t worry about the weeks except as an idea when to pull out the scope.
