When you look at the product descriptions it my say flowers in 8 weeks. Does that mean 8 weeks from when you flip them or flip 8 weeks into growing?
auto or photo?
Dont understand. They are feminized seeds.
Eight weeks from the flip. Eight to 10 weeks from the start of flowering is pretty standard.
You can flip them whenever you want. Cannabis is capable of flowering at some point between 4 and 7 weeks from seed, give or take a few weeks.
I would just figure 10 weeks after they flip auto or photo. 2-3 weeks stretch then count. No matter what a seedbank says they each have a timer. Same strain…2 plants can be weeks apart sometimes. Just what i notice. Auto will do auto. Never know. At the end weeks do not matter…ripeness does.
Whenever you see the white hairs (actual flowering), then you start you count for flowering. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to flower after flip.
out of likes again, great info posted above.
Hi @jcasey First, that’s a good Q. Only the seed provider knows what exactly they mean by that. Second, auto flowering plants will flower on their own regardless of light - dark cycle. Both auto flowering as well as photo period plants can be feminized or regular. Autos can flower as soon as 3 weeks from sprouting above ground. Photos need 12 hours darkness for a few days to a week or 2 before showing flower pistils, the white hairs that @beachglass pointed out. And finally to make things a bit more foggy, seed sellers lie like fake news re the amount of weeks to harvest cause market perception is “the sooner the better” especially in an illegal area. So they tell you the very shortest time till harvest to make more sales, which in turn causes people to get what I call EHS (early harvest syndrome), So weed gets harvested too early and gets a bad rep. caused by the anxiety and paranoia brought on by using premature weed. Hope this helps. You did come to the right place to find out.
@jcasey Hi there. I believe ILGM seeds are all feminized.
Thanks all! I am going to do autoflowers next. Would you start in small pot and transplant or start in final home?
@jcasey if you can start them in there final home
I wish sites, ILGM included, would provide a list of terms and definitions. I mean seriously what is average size. When it comes to humans, average size is not the same height and weight throughout the world. You raise a good point about flowering time. Some here says flowering stage starts with changing the light cycle. This is absolutely correct. Other define flowering time to be when actual flowering begins. I think the consensus is when flowers start forming buttons / cotton balls. As to which definition is used in seed catalog sites, I wish they would tell us.
Personally I keep track of both. What date did I flip, and when do I first see buttons. The time difference between the two is the transition period. This is somewhere around 10 -14+ days.
With autos, sometimes the term grow time is used. This is often not very useful because the range can be as much as 4 weeks.
As @beardless said, autos can be more variable than photos. I’ve grown N. Lights autos from the same dealer that finished 5weeks apart.
The last auto I grew went 136 days. It didn’t start flowering until day 56. At least it wasn’t 9" tall and flowering on day 21. I’ll reserve autos for growing outdoors which I don’t do.
They sell femanized and unfemanized photo period
Only femanized autoflower
