Is the fridge a bad place to store seeds between grows?

I keep mine in the ILGM packaging and throw them in the fridge also on the door. Are they just in the little plastic bags? Or are the bags in something else

I had some old Heaven’s Stairway (if you know, you know) AK47s in the fridge for about 20? 25? years.
Got a wild hair and popped 10/10 of those suckers last summer. Still have a boatload. No reason to throw them out I reckon. :smiley:

@stevenewbie hey i also store my seeds in the refrigerator, but one thing I didn’t hear that i do. Like nature after the cold of winter the seeds start to warm up during spring. So i take the seed I’m going to germinate out of the fridge a couple weeks before and get them use to room temperature, before I plant them. I don’t just get a seed out and get it wet lol, anyway i have great success, hope this helps. Happy growing man

About half are not - Im glad I got em buy 10 get 10… but I dont think I will buy that many again.

@stevenewbie
That was the deal I got
I keep mine in the fridge in their baggie, and then inside another package that’s dark. The only two seeds I have had not sprout from ILGM were ones that I drowned. I haven’t read the whole thread. How old are they?

4 or 5 mths old tops.

@stevenewbie how long have you waited for them to pop
I had a few I didn’t think would after almost two weeks and then they popped all of a sudden

Not full of seeds, meat mostly, beef, pork, chickens, venison, and seeds.

I only acclimatize my seeds for 24 hours and the only reason I do that is I don’t want to shock them. I doubt even that’s necessary. Nearly all of my seeds pop and only those with historical germination issues (not ILGM) ever fail.

Darn… I’m a bit disappointed. I was hoping to beg seeds from you should the US slip further backwards and ill-eagle-eyes :old_key: MJ seed sales.

Well I do have thousands of seeds (they don’t take up that mush space) so I can hook up plenty of growers if needed.

Yoo da man!! I only have a few dozen seeds and nearly all are feminized. I need to greatly increase my stash of non-feminized varieties to ensure future production should availability here cease. Unfortunately, ILGM no longer offers non-feminized seeds. :pensive:

maybe that is what I do wrong… I went from fridge to water

2 weeks?! I had slow gg4s that took 5 days… I would think them dead by 2 weeks but I will wait.

@stevenewbie
Here she is :relaxed:

well I didnt throw anything out… just added second seeds (peat pots) so we’ll see.

Very cool. I did not know this.

@Hellraiser – where are you?

I just keep mine where i have been keeping them since 1982. In my bedroom drawer wrapped up in baggies. The ones i just got from ILGM are still in the original containers and sealed up in a zip lock put away in my knife collection case. I will put them in the fridge 2 weeks before im ready to start germinating them and let them warm up for 2 weeks before i actually germinate them. I keep it simple. I dont want any big environmental shifts.
