I need some help tryinv to figure out why this Super Silver Haze has no smell . I bought 10 seeds from ILGM i planted 2 in foxfarm happy from soil and they have both sprouted and growing but this 1 is already in flowering stage she was planted early for my area April 1 to be exact. The heat has been for the highs in the 100’s for 3 weeks now ofcourse off and on and that is not normal for my neck of the woods . I know it gets this hot in Arizona but they are prepared for it and have little tips and tricks , i do not so im thinking that maybe the heat is the main reason ? Can someone help ??? If its heat does anyone have any sort of remedy i can try or is this a problem im not seeing …i use Jacks 321 , but i started off using fox farm trio. I jave another London pound cake and shes doing ok showing some of the same signs but still has a smell …HELP!!!
Different statins will have different smells with some little to no smell at all. Heat would kill the terpines more so during the drying and curing stage 
that plant is still a few weeks out from any noticeable smell

Plus I’ve found that some days the plants are stinky and other times not.
Genetics plays a role as well and I’ve found many strains grown now lack a strong aroma.

I know how you feel. My first plants had very little smell (I was expecting much more).
This grow is an Acapolco Gold photo (5th week of flower). This one has more smell and I suspect it will get stronger
I grow in an unfriendly state so I try to stay stealth in a shed behind the house.
As far as smell, I may regret wanting more?
Rub the stems between your fingers back an forth then smell. Flowering is starting and as they start producing buds the smell gets stronger.
Thats great info to know …when it will have a smell right now it has a bit of a pepper smell
@Myfriendis410 do you have any past experience with SSH ( super silver haze). This is the 1st time I have taken a swing at growing it , last year was Grand daddy purp , purple haze and london pound cake all bag seeds from a reliable source
@2GreenThumbs when i do that it gives a pepper smell like black pepper
@HotAndHumid my grow situation is very similar im in a no 420 zone …smh but this heat has been ridiculous and im afraid its causing this only because my london pound cake had a fairly decent smell at this age last year and it too is not very strong if any at all

I was havin the same issue with my Purple Haze. The buds were forming and all I had was that funky green smell. But now that there getting closer to harvest the smell has changed. A little better but not really to my liking. I think there doing so much crossbreeding the plants don’t know what the hell there supposed to smell like. It could be the heat who knows. Everyday here has been between 100 and 120 , thats the real feel temp. I’ll take the smell from the old days before anything I’ve come across so far today but maybe that’s just me. Alright so check this out. Somewhere about in the early 80’s I bought a 1/4 of this unbelievably good bud. $20 for the 1/4 . There were calling it sinsemilla I think. There were 2 seeds in it. Nice big seeds. So I plant them in a couple of jiffy pots on my windowsill in the bedroom. They broke soil at the same time and in a couple of days after the first 2 single leaves were formed I noticed that skunk smell. I didn’t know where the smell was coming from so I pic up the plant and it was them giving off that sweet funky smell. Now they were only about 1" high. So I knew this was going to be some superfly shit. I planted them in 2 - 10 gal pots and babied them till harvest. Bat guano and the fish poop from my aquarium was all I gave them. Todays knowledge wasn’t around then. No computers either. So that was the best bud I ever grew and smoked. Still haven’t met it’s match yet. They were Indica. On;y got about 3’ tall and solid bud from the main stem to the ends. The main cola was 25 1/2" and fat. I made 3 grand and had enough to smoke for 6 months. The end… 
I want my pot to smell like pot @Moms_little_budmaker not some damn seasoning or a pack of juicy fruit gum, lol

I grew some durbin poison that had no smell the entire time i was growing and drying it it developed a bit if a smell during curing but the flower was excellent so i wouldn’t worry too much about it
@madhatter1 aahhh the good ole days right…what i would have gave to of had some of that !!! I think you are right about the plants dont even know what the hell they are supposed to smell like lmao…the bag seeds i grew last year were purple haze and grand daddy purp …i could smell them in the driveway and they were about 1/2 arce away …early morning was the best you could probably smell it down the block. These Super silver haze i boight from ILGM i hope i just have my expectations set too high for the growing smell and hopefully the bud comes out better than the smell
I grabbed them so many times I’ve removed a lot of the trichomes. I got my nose all up in her business and it’s just so so. 
Although I took a little lower bud off last week and It gives a nice buzz. But the smell and the taste gets a 0.
I’ve done several ‘Haze’ strains over the years, including SSH. Good solid yields and potent. But I wouldn’t say it had a strong terpene profile.
The pepper smell is caryophyllene and it is known to be a dominant terpene in super silver haze. And high temperatures will definitely impact your terpene profile. That being said, you have a long way to go and things will probably change as you get later in the season. I wouldn’t sweat it.
@dbrn32 wow thanks for the information, this is the 1st time growing silver haze and information like this is very useful, to know what to expect. This time last year i had purple haze and it had a strong smell . Again thanks for the reassurance
I have 3 plants in their 3rd week of flower right now and this is my concern also. Idont want to end up with something that tastes and smells like homegrown and/or no high ftom them…i am anxious to experience the results of my first grow.
I’m guessing it will need more fertilizer next grow if this grow turns out like homegrown?
