Hi everyone! This is my first grow - I have 3 Maui Wowies and 3 Gorilla Glues. First off I have to express how much I love this community!! The first couple weeks I had some troubleshooting to do and because of everyone’s willingness to help each other in this forum I was able to do so promptly and get my girls on a great path!
I had one runt that needed some assistance during sprouting, but she is starting to catch up to the rest and is looking gorgeous. But, I do have one that grew its second set of leaves and is continuing to get bigger…but no third set of leaves emerged. She is growing some secondary leaves at the first node. As you can see in the pictures, she also has quite a few mutations in the current leaf structure.
Considering this is my first time, I was curious if anyone else has ever come across this and if those secondary leaves at the first node may instinctually kick in as new main shoots? I have two tents, one I plan on putting my 4 healthiest plants that are at the same growth rate - and the other tent I can put the two that are lagging behind. But, any info as far as what might have happened to the little weirdo chica would be much appreciated! That looks like one of those that people say auto toped itself. They have alays from what I’ve seem on the forum grown out and been fine. Wouldn’t worry about it to much.
That’s where my imagination was leaning, that it topped itself…but I didn’t want to feel too confident since I’m completely new and am only a “YouTube expert” as they would say. Lol. Regardless of what it was, since I have two tents I was gonna go ahead and let it keep growing just out of pure curiosity to see what happened. Thanks for reinforcing my feeling!!
Thanks for the pictures! The idea of potentially giving up and discarding one of these girls was a sickening feeling. I don’t know how I have become so attached to such a thing as a plant, but I love watching them and think they’re amazing. Haha. Can’t wait to see how this particular plant decides to grow.
Yes! She has become one of my favorites of the bunch because of the fact that she topped herself! It made some of the LST work I’ve been doing so much easier to manage because there weren’t 4-5 internodes on the main stem.
I started a new thread that is more or less my grow journal for these babies if you would like to take a look. It’s mostly so that as I post updates more experienced growers can call me out when I do something wrong or need some education. haha, it has been such a fun and exciting learning curve, but I feel like there is so much left to dial in.
