Hello everyone, first time grower and first time posting on ILGM hoping to get a little help.
*I have an indoor 600w LED setup with 20-4 schedule
*Growing 6 ILGM White Widow CBD Autoflower in 5 gallon cloth pots w/ FoxFarm HappyFrog soil.
*I’ve been watering with tap water ran through a activated charcoal filter, pH’d to 6.0-6.7 depending on runoff pH.
*Feeding with FoxFarm soil trio and Botanicare CalMag Plus
I am on day 48 since sprouting and I am seeing little white hairs from some nodes on some of my plants. I’ve also noticed some of those hairs begin to dry up.
I am wondering if it is normal (for ILGM White Widow CBD Autoflower) for this particular strain to flower later on, or I believe I may be too anxious to see these girls flower. I am also thinking there may be a slight chance of them being photos and not autos. Should I let them go for another week or two, and if nothing switch the lights to 12-12?
How large is your grow space? 5’x5’ tent, it is set up in the garage.
Exactly what light are you using? HLG 550 RSPEC
Ambient temps? I had been keeping the temp between 68-77*F. Last couple of days have really warmed up and now the temperature is up in the low 90s.
Relative humidity? 55-88%RH. I’ve really struggled keeping it constant. It shoots up when all 3 velcro vents are closed during lights out, and I open them up to lower the RH
How much are you feeding and how often? I’ve been putting 10mL of FF BigBloom, 5mL of FF GrowBig, 5mL of FF TigerBloom and 5mL of Botanicare CalMag Plus, all of it goes into a gallon of water which I feed each plant 2 1/2 cups each after watering it with pH’d water until I see a bit come out the bottom.
I just went and picked up a portable AC from my brothers house because we are expecting high 80 to 90 temps. I’ve had a portable heater in the tent as its been in the low 40s at night.
Do you work from a grow schedule and what is your TDS when mixed? Is it every watering or do you alternate between feeding and watering? I ask because it might be better to apply cal mag on alternating days and feeding on the rest. The amounts that FF recommends are, in my opinio, wildly exaggerated. Using their amounts will burn plants. Just an FYI.
Your RH is fine in veg but def want to get it into 40 to 50% for flower. Good choice on lights and IMO you can back WAY off on lights as 20/4 under a 550 rspec you hit your daily light integral at the 12 hour mark (unless you have it turned way down).
You may have to give them 12/12 to stimulate flower but don’t do it until they are big enough to use your space well.
I only have a dehumidifier in mine which I’m currently cycling on a timer to maintain 50% RH and I’m in SoCal, in a garage, in a small tent right now. I do have an inline 4" running continuously during daylight and periodically at night along with a 6" fan on a thermostat to vent the ‘head’ if temps get to 75F. Works so far and I’m almost done growing 'til we move in the fall.
@Myfriendis410 I started off using a quarter strength of the recommended dosage from the FoxFarm Soil Feeding Schedule. I am up to half that with minor nute burn on just the very tips, lately it hasn’t been showing that. The TDS meter I got is a VIVOSUN from amazon and it reads as 787ppm and the EC 1595 us/cm. I don’t find it very reliable, whenever I take it out and test again the number vary very drastically.
Good to know about the humidity and the light. My whole set up was a gift and I had read somewhere that they didn’t recommend getting that light until you at least had a few grows under your belt.
I also have a small dehumidifier, but I didn’t feel like it was cutting it so I went to pick up a portable AC from my brother that has a dehumidifier setting on it. I have a 4" in. 100cfm inline exhaust fan, and I am using a small jobsite fan as an intake which I’ve been running 24h this past week.
Glad to hear you’re almost done with your grow, is there a thread where I can see what you have going on?
@Drinkslinger Thanks,yeah I have a 4" 100cfm on the whole time.
So do we agree I may have photos instead of Autos?
I’ll try to get some pictures after lights come back “on”.
Your plants look great and these guys have you covered. I just want to say, autos have a mind of their own. They can start flowering in 2 weeks or 14 depending on the breeder. There’s only a few out there that are really on target with flowering times. A picture of your seed packs would tell us if you might have photos instead of autos though, but most likely just autos with a mind of their own.
