have you ever Fully saturated your pots with slow watering, or does it run right through for runoff. Still a newb here just wondering.
I’ve done both depending on where they are in the cycle and even the type of plant! Usually I hit a good rhythm dueing flowering but it tends to work out to around 1 liter per gallon of pot size, give or take.
In a recent water on this one, I did 3 liters at 500 ml pours, let it soak a bit for each 500 ml, and added the next one. Once I started to see some drainage, I stopped and let it drain out. Towards 2.5 liters, drainage was minimal, so I added another 500 and around 300 total ran off.
Sometimes I don’t have time to be so kind with the amount of plant I grow haha so I rush water and there is definitely some side runoff with the cloth pots.
I’ve overwatered (watered too frequently) before so I adopted a rule recently. If I think she is ready, I wait another 12 to 24 hours.
Been working well!
Whew, it’s been 6 days since my last water of 1 gallon, and she is still slightly moist and a bit heavier than I would like for her next water, but she is definitely looking hungry.
This is the day that I need patience haha I don’t want to over water!
I think I’ll drop from a gallon to 3 liters as well so she can be watered a bit more frequently.
I’ll hopefully water tomorrow and provide a full update, but adjusting the lights back up definitely helped.
It looks like we had some nutrient needs this week, but nothing disastrous. I was debating on what my feeding levels should be heading into day 50 given her lower PPM reading of 600 after my last regular distilled watering.
I went in with 600 PPM of nutrients and it looks like it was a great call! I watered in around 2.5 liters of water, and I think I will keep it at 2.5 liters in terms of volume for the remaining waters for this run.
3 liters felt like too much and too much time for her to dry out in between waters (almost 6 days). I would rather water every 3 - 4 days and introduce nutrients at different levels more frequently.
Day 49:
I might even drop it to 2 liters over the next two weeks!
I measured her runoff and it came in at 1300 PPM, so the 600 feed was around right on point. I will drop it to 300 to 400, with higher CalMag a the focus for the next water given some early signs of a deficiency. Runoff PH was 6.16.
Day 52:
I defoliated a few leaves that were looking worse off, but all in all, things are going well. I am going to let her dry out a bit more before watering again, but she is ripening nicely!
Looking good my friend. Im glade we were able to figure everything out!
Thanks for the help thus far!!
Hey! I did a water today, PH going in was 6.04 and coming out was 5.93. I am seeing some yellowing and spotting issues at the top set of leaves. I should have upped the PH today in my water a bit more, but I negleted to do so.
Do you think I should run a few gallons of 7 through it to bring it back up, or can I raise it for the next few waters and hope for the best, thoughts?
PPM was solid at 950 runoff!
U can up itnover the next few waterings
She is starting to finish up!
I watered once this week with a light nutrient water of around 400 PPM (5 ml/Gallon Ventana Plant Science Flower and 1 ml/Gallon Ventana Plant Science Support). Last week she ate around 600 PPM and watering 2.5 liters this week gave me around 300 ml of runoff measuring 914 PPM, she is set for endgame I think.
PH was a bit on the lower end for this run of. Going in was 6.15 and runoff was 5.9, as low as I would like to go for a soil grow.
If I do water her this week, I will give her a dose of 6.5 - 6.5 distilled water and start flushing her out, as she already seems to be eating herself and ripening up!
The smell is sweet and candy-like already, and her predicted timeline is a 63 day flower, so we may push that to 70 to 72 days with a full flush. I see some amber trichomes starting, but I think she has a bit more to give.
Day 59
I am trimming up anything that has given its all, especially any sugar leaves on the bugs that are looking done as a bud rot precaution, but I think we are close!
She has slowed her water consumption and is still a bit heavy. If she does get watered, it will be one more in a few days. Again though, I might let her go a few days and call it. We shall see!
