What is best to get rid of soil gnats
Mosquito bits soaked in water for a few hours and watered in will work for the larvae. Sticky traps for the adults. Also allow your soil to dry out for a few cycles. Gnats thrive in moist soil.

Do you strain the bits out or let them dissolve?
I like to do a 24 hour soak in water for a mosquito bit tea. If I’m in a rush I do a few hours with heavy agitation using a paint mixer every half an hour or so. I also put some on the top of the medium so they get watered in every time. Doesn’t matter if you strain them out. If fungus gnats become a frequent problem mix them into your medium before starting next time. I usually do about a cup per 5 gallons.
I usually break em up before i soak em let em. Ive done it both way, strained and not strained. They wont hurt your soil
You can also scratch a couple of big spoons
Full of Mosquito bits into the soil will get the job done. Good luck
They don’t desolve they’re made from ground up corn cobs. They sometimes grow mold or mushrooms if there’s enough on top of the soil and the soil doesn’t dryout enough between watering. I mix some in to my soil at the beginning and scratch some in during the grow
