Hey so I have always grew synthetic with Fox farm ocean Forest being the most to not synthetic as I have been LOL but Walmart had all of this stuff marked down so I picked a few things up since they were so cheap but I have a tote that has my old Fox farm soil in it. I have about 3 gallons of old soil in the tote and another two or three gallons of old soil that is about to be finished. So I’m wondering how should I mix all of these things together to rejuvenate my old soil?
Nice score Brother, I’ll let some of the organic gurus chime in. ![]()
@OGIncognito s*** man ain’t nobody hitting back LOL can you add some people to my tag list that might know
Was asleep.lol. ok here we go.
Organic soil, 2cup worm casting. 1 cup alfalfa. 1 cup kelp. All the perlite in that soil. The Starter soil for seedling hold it aside for seedlings.
The mixes are a little N hot. Will need to cook the soil 2 weeks at least before use.
I would not top dress the build till girls in full veg.
Get a good dry ammend for the build. I like @Roadsideorganics.ok . Can get a tote and start the organic holding box. All your used soil returned to it to re-amend and cook for next plants. Full circle.
New plants new in soil. Old soil in tote to re-amend and cook. Rinse repeat. All reammends do at 1/2 nutrients.. The soil will have nutes in it.
COOK THE SOIL!!! It needs a couple weeks. Adding life to the soil is done during cook. If have none find a big tree. Healthy. Dig out a cup of dirt at its base near a root. Throw it in the bin. It is FULL of life. Will spread through the whole bin in a week or 2.
Easy peasy.

Here is my 3 year old soil.
@Storm okay so I do have a tote with about 9 gallons of old soil from last harvest. So are you saying to mix this stuff with my old soil? Like dump the whole bag of the organic mix in with the old soil along with the worm castings and stuff? Are you saying to use it separately
Mix it all up. Then add water and cook it. Not all the castings. Just about what I suggested. Add a cup for the extra 9 gallons. Same for kelp and alfalfa.
This is not rocket science. Simple and effective growing. KISS method. Tried and true. Here are 2 in that kind of mix. Havent fed yet at all.
@Storm all right cool I got you I was just making sure that that wasn’t mixing not enough with too much soil you know but I guess either way it’s better than reusing it without nothing LOL
I’ll phone a friend LOL @Budbrother ![]()
