I have a blue dream auto that has been flowering for 23 days…has been growing for 76 days. Trichomes are cloudy. This is my first grow, so I don’t know how much longer I should keep it going. The buds are small so I’d like to see if they get bigger with more time but I want to harvest at peak THC level with minimal CBD.
You have 5 to 7 weeks to go yet. It takes 8 to 10 weeks for flower to ripen.
It’s not time to look at trichomes until the white pistils have darkened. Be sure that you are looking at trichomes on flower and not leaves when you get there.
Welcome to the forum.
She has a long way to go. No harm in peeking, but honestly it’s going to be several weeks or a month before you’ll be able to see the trichomes start to cloud up. Those long white pistils will eventually darken up and then they’ll retract to the point where you can hardly see them anymore. It’s after those pistils darken that you should start checking the status of the trichomes.
Awesome! Thanks all.
How about this 12.5” northern lights that is 2 weeks younger than blue dream? It had red hairs within a few days of flowering.
Until you smoke them. Lol
All pistols or hairs go the the same process of starting white and turning dark.
It can be at completely different rates.
Typically in the life cycle once starting to flower, most cannabis have a few “bursts” of hairs.
A bunch pop out and as they turn dark, another bust of fresh white hairs will pop out.
Usually this happens 3-4 times and eventually most all hairs are dark and you have big fat buds.
But it is also perfectly normal for some plants to still have multiple growing spurts without alot if dark hairs till twards the end …
It’s just genetic variation and it can be pretty wide…
any outdoor grower in the Seattle area weather?
after recent rains (and coming rains), the outdoor fresh flowering colas, have no pistils,
no white pistils, and no brown either.
Is that due to not enough sunlight or too much rain/fog?
Haven’t watered or fed, lately, due to daily rains.
Clearly not mature and not pollenated. ( I have these on my indoor flowers).
Sad sunlight these days, if any appears thru clouds.
I had an alien moonrocks plant that had no visible pistols much to speak of but they was inside the calyx. The calyx just seemed to never open up, it produces the most dense nugs I’d ever seen.
They was all on the smaller side but lots of them and hard like rocks.
I took mine as genetics and i wish i could have more like it
Idk if that’s the case but maybe
Before the rains, a week ago, they were looking white pistils as into flower a short month.
One outdoor area gets no real sunlight, direct for more than an hour id clouds are gone at that time of day. Worse was the full sunlight outdoor grow may have the same problem.
I will go brave the wind and rain and clip a cola for further inspection, shortly.
Thank you 1HP
Dang man i was just looking at the weather fir your area and it dosen’t look good
Cold and very wet.
I grow inside but I’m wondering how much longer plants could be outside once temps are below 65°
welcome to my world. Temps below 65 no problem. Scuba gear required, is the problem.
Monsoon is a term some use (but we are probably too cold to qualify).
We just call it rain season (vs dry season).
Been pulling and moving the grow, testing.
Current plan, painful as it may be is to watch and see who survives.
They are all already cloned and indoor.
But learning my yard and my weather is important.
Last year we were dry til now (fires galore).
Now, I had to mow the lawn 3 times yesterday to get one high cut (D) not (C).
Cold and wet grows lawns into jungles quickly around these parts.
Probably 4-6 weeks too early, but out of time, maybe.
Im in the southern Appalachian mnts so i completely understand unfortunately
If we got just a few more inches a year we would be a rain forest, i think sone areas are considered a temperate rain forest.
Ginseng Grower?
I won’t ask about corn growing.
I did grow some corn this year but i use to have a large patch of ginseng but we sold the farm several years ago.
I never told the new owner about it and i often wonder if he ever found it or would even know it if he saw it. Maybe one day I’ll just go check, if no ones touched it, its been about 10 years there would be so much money in there
But we got a house in the city now so not really possible to any extent worth while.
Weed watermelons, strawberries, tomatoes and corn is about it now.
Close neighbors to “Popcorn Sutton”?
Kinda I guess. I’m about 40 miles over from his area now. I went to Gatlinburg Pitman high-school and basically grew up in the Pigeon forge /Gatlinburg area. Lived right on the parkway for several years as a kid.
It was awsome getting to do all the tourist stuff for free back then
Western Washington and Oregon are temperate rainforests. Being in those forest is like being in the time of dinosaurs, but really on the chilly side.
26 days later, the Blue Dream Auto and Northern Lights Auto are at 101 days. None of the trichomes have darkened so maybe these strains don’t turn amber and remain milky white at peak harvest.
Should I keep them going until I see some color changes or what might a more experienced grower advise.
Here’s the BD
And the NL
From my experience, just about all if not all the pistols have turned dark before I see much amber.
It apears there’s still quite a bit of fresh white pistols making me think it’s stil growing.
How many weeks have they actually been in flower?
