Courious how you flip. Do you ease them into it by a couple of hours each day from 18/6 to 12/12 or do you just slam it i to flower at one time change???

Just slam the heck out of it, and go straight to 12 12 duration. It seems that we have settled into a standard 18 hour veg, and 12 hour flower.
When I did my first grow in 1983, the recommendation from High Time Magazine was to reduce by 1/2 hour per week going from 18 hours to 12. I guess the thought was to follow nature’s rules. This was a painful amount of flip time. Then I started seeing suggestions for a faster flip time of 2 hours reduction per week, and I quickly put these into practice.
During my second setup in 1994, the rules if one could find them had changed. Again thanks to good old High Times Magazine. Then they were recommending a 24 hour veg cycle, and with a simple flip to 12 hours. This grow was in a closet with a 400 watt HID, and had a small cloning area under the shelf, utilizing black plastic to seal off the 24 hour light. This was one of my best setups, and even had a drain in floor. BTW all of my plants did very well under 24 hours light. I still use a 24 hour duration when taking a clone from a flowering plant, trying to reveg a plant.
I guess this is why I never wanted to try Autos. or found them needed. I love the female photo seeds from ILGM though.

Nothing like an aggressive flip 
I just go 12/12. Turn off the lights on the last day of veg, and startup on the new 12 hour cycle
Done it twice now - seems pretty bulletproof
