How do I tell when the seedlings in a solo cup need to be transplanted to a larger pot?

How do I know when to transplant seedlings from a solo cup to a one gallon pot?

Members have you covered , I use the small Square starter cups with slots in the bottom when I see roots coming out to bottom of the cup usually 10 to 14 days I transplant. :v:

I’d highly advise you to transplant to their final home and not to a one gallon pot that will need transplanted again in the future. I like using 3 gallon fabric pots and many still use 5 gallon fabric pots.

If autos I’d say start them in their final home. When u start off in a solo or a smaller container the roots wrap around the pot so when u transplant the roots are all basically thru the mid of new pot and won’t spread as fast and like they would if u let the roots take over the final pot. The root zone builds itself to hold the weight and size of the plants so if u start small the plant will be small as the root zone is small. Let the roots do their thing and spread thru the pots. Photos are another story as u can let them veg as long as u want so they can be played with alot more and can be transplanted several times if u want to.

outta , but anytime

The tallest is 4 1/2 inches (planted a few days earlier., 3 are 3 1/2 " 4 are 2 to 3". They were planted on 1/21 and all were out of the soil by 1/24. I was also wondering if it’s possible to have 8 plants in a 5’ by 8’ room, if they didn’t veg as long?

Really depends on the lighting footprint. What kind of light do you have? Also from the looks of it, you have some inadequate lighting going on due to the stretching seen on the little ones pictured above. It’s not horrible, but could pose an issue during flower.

Two 600 Watt Phlizon 24 inches over plants. I’ve had them as close as 18". I have 4 more lights like those.

Those we like to refer to as blurples. Ok for seedlings and into veg if you have more than one like you do. However to get the most out of flowering plants you may need to upgrade to something full spectrum. The info I got from them says they are 100W , it’s common for companies to label it as 600W yet it be only 100W max. What size area you growing in again?

Also noticed a touch stretchy. Hittem harder with light. They can handle it.

@mrd6644 With some training they can last in veg in a solo for a while. Kind of depends on how much space you have to flower the plants, and how much time you take for a larger harvest per plant. Safe rule for new growers is usually when the leaves extend past the circumference of the pot. :green_heart::pray::v:

Why am I not surprised I didn’t get what I thought I paid for? I have light bulbs stronger than 100 watts. How will I know if the full spectrums I buy are legit? My room is 5’ by 8 with a 7 ft. ceiling.

We have all been down this road unfortunately and then learned…the hard way…lol. I grew under a Mars Hydro TS 1000 for my first few grows, got some weak, airy bud.

From what I looked at online for your brand it specifically said replaces 100w MH bulbs. And its a blurple for sure. Don’t ever take value lights or bulbs for face value. I would take a look at Horticulture Lighting Group lights. Give them a call and see what they recommend for that area. I will say this…if you’re trying to utilize the whole space to grow, you need a big light or multiple lights to fill that footprint. I personally use HLG lights and they are great for the money. Another brand I use and love is ChilLED Tech. Lots of options, but stay off amazon for lights lol…unless you a specific brand that has full spectrum.

Buy from a reputable supplier of horticulture products. Not amazon or big box stores. There are alot of really good lights that people on here use that I’ve never heard of. I stick to HLG simply because the customer service is second to none. ChilLED Tech is the same way. Read the reviews, read the specs and if need be, call them and ask if they are full spectrum.

Thank you so much, you’ve saved me a lot of frustration. This is my second go at this and I was hoping for a little more success. I’m sure I’ll have more questions in the near future. Thanks again.
