Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on transplanting from solo cup to 5 gallon buckets? Should I slowly Increase size of buckets or will my babies be fine going from solo to 5 gallons?
I gone from them small jiffy pot and dome things, right to 5 gallon and have not had a problem. Just waited until about the second or third node to show.
You should do just fine. But don’t forget to water in a circle around your plant. That way the roots will have to reach for that water and you will have a stronger plant!
(keep in mind that I’m kind of a noob, but I read a lot )
If you have good watering skills then no problem. I would suggest fabric pots over buckets: I see better growth in them.
Yeah, image planting directly into mother earth! Thats one giant bucket!
Welcome!I go from the seedling cups to the 5 gallon fabric pots is a normal procedure for me. If you choose the fabric pots I think you’ll like them.
I use airpots but also go solo into final pot. I figure the less disturbing the plant the better and it will grow into it.
I don’t see the need of a solo cup at all. If you have good lights like HLG, you can transplant the seeds with tap roots straight into your final grow buckets and place in the tent. Especially if the seeds you have are top notch genetics.
Not smart ass, it was explanatory. You can plant in any sized container. The larger the container the bigger the root zone, assuming you joth the light and the space. The only issue with small plants in big pots is the likelihood of overwatering, which is very easy to do. If it was me, I would gently moisten the entire mixture a little at a time until it barely feels moist to your skin before planting. Then transplant, and only water around the dripline of the plant enough to keep it moist but not wet. As the plant grows water wider and a little more.
@Noobie I took what you said as serious also. Glad that’s sorted out.
Its all good, I have thick skin! Lol i cant smoke anything now as I had to take a friend to hospital.
I normally go from solo cup, 1 gal pot then onto 5 gal pot. Must admit it gives me the fear when transplanting into the 5 as she’s getting big and can be difficult to handle
