They’ve been filling out nicely up top the last few days. One is still a bit short but is growing laterally. One has roots visibility coming through to drain holes in the bottom. I’m mad at myself for not using clear cups inside red cups to take a peek but meh.
These girls are 18 days from emerging through the soil. I’m not in a rush, but I vaguely remember reading, once the leaves reach the rim of the cup, transplant. But I don’t know if that’s viable info.
As for the second part of my question, what pot size should I go to. My end goal are 20gal smart pots, outdoors (moved outside mid to late June) I have 2gal and 5gal plastics I could move them to, but understand the less there’s pluses and minuses to moving them to often and moving them straight to a big pot. Yeah didn’t know what the consensus on that would be.

I had to get them into something, and wouldn’t you know they arrived the next day. So I’ll be getting them into them next. They are cheap enough. Plastic doesnt let near enough oxygen in

Would you have any insight on potting up sizes in relation to my situation? Like I said previously they’re in solo cups, my end goal being 20gal smart pots that will live out their days under the sun roughly mid June. Which gives me (and the ladies) a month to get prepared for the great outdoors. This is my third outdoor grow (first from seed though). I’ve always started in my basement, under this agrobrite 4’ 8 bulb T5. Presently, I have 4/8 tubes running 14” above these gals. Like I said though, first seed grow, so I tend to over think shit and try to have a plan in place. Pulling from your journal, you seem to transplant ≈ week 3, when they’re drinking 4oz’s daily. I have one of mine that’s drinking 50ml (2oz) daily (which is what I’ve been watering these girls when I lift cups and notice air light cups) would you recommend upping the amount of water?

On the pot sizes, I’d go from solo cup to 3 gal to your final 20 gal. I don’t like the water daily method, keeps the roots too wet, easy to over water. I like to water it fully to some runoff, which 4 oz does at the beginning and middle of the cup era then don’t water again til it’s dry. I want to get all the soil moist when watering so there are no dry spots, roots don’t go into dry soil. Yes, up the amount of water then wait however long it takes for it dry up before watering again, these dry periods between waterings will keep away the over watering syndrome.
Cool, I’ll grab 3 gal’s and work those.
Sorry, to clarify, I don’t water everyday. I watered all 2oz yesterday, one was light/soil dry today so maybe I’ll up the water amount to 3 oz’s and see how that goes.

I’m also on day 18 from seed and your plants look much bigger than mine. Kinda makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong lol. I hope not as this is my first time.
I did two rounds of seeds, popped and planted on the 25th of April, three days later they all emerged, so going by that they’re all 27 days young. I transplanted those on day 23 and they looked like:
One of them needed water every morning for a few days, got my 3 gal pot filled and ready. About and hour before lights out I popped them out of the solo cups and the roots had made a full circle around the bottom of the cup, so I transplanted all 4.
The second batch of seeds popped and planted on the 5th, emerged on the 8th and 9th. So today, they’re 16 & 17 days, after seeing the roots of the previous batch I transplanted those at day 14/15. They looked like:
This is just my experience, I’m not a pro, this is my third year, first grow from seed. My grow conditions and types of plants I have are different from yours, however they (yours) look slightly over watered. I have a rough time not over loving (watering) my plants.

Yeah, they’re too small for a transplant, the roots won’t be very dense at this point and the soil will want to fall apart, I’d wait til they are much bigger and drying up the soil in the cup after watering in a day. Slow growth is most likely due to over watering. Let the cups dry up and feel almost empty before watering again.
