Update: 27 SEP (Day 30 Above Ground)

Before Thoughts:

My leaves are looking better than last grows. During my previous grows some of my biggest errors were for one, I had my chemical mixing in the wrong order causing inaccurate PH readings. My biggest mistake early on in past grows I was ā€œattemptingā€ to PH the RO water without enough solids in the water, and then I was adding the other chemicals without coming back to check PH before I used it on the plants.

I do find though that the proper chemical mixing order pulls my hard crappy 9 PH tap water back closer to where I want them, so I am hardly using the PH additives. My leaves at this stage of plant life on the grows that are already in the books, they were just starting to get some bad spots on them. That is ā€œTestamentā€ to Happy Frog for doing the work really just as it is here.

I am going to stick with Fox Farms Happy Frog. Dirt is cheap and you have a few days in between fluid events. I figure it has worked well for hundreds of years. I realize this is like Bonsai plant growing so CoCo, Hydro, is appealing to the masses too. I am not here to spend a lot of cash keeping my aches and pains at bay either. I can keep things to 1 ea 5 Gal bucket of mix too for the 3 plants.

I am sure that the chemicals give me what I need for solids, but I am adding about 20 oz of tap to 3 gallon of RO (60PPM) to bring my start solution to around 120 PPM as my start off base solution.

Added 1ml per Gal as directed by label for RO users. PH still high so I brough it down by adding a few drops of PH down.

I found out on Grow #1, I was mixing micro batches and Fing up the measurements. I did not have the Measuring tubes yet also, LOL. Being stoned and performing ml to teaspoon math calculations, plus a few decades removed from dropping out of school was throwing off my calculations.

I early on invested in a 5 Gallon bucket and then started mixing chemicals and factoring by the gallon with the squeeze tubes for dialed in measurements. My interior closet set up feels like the perfect kitchen work triangle almost…LOL. Table, Bathtub-mix drain area, grow chamber.

I converted the interior closet prior to Grow 2 with some Lowes Refletix Rolls and a staple gun with 3/8ā€ staples. The 4ā€ carbon filter is hanging at Door Frame header Height. My attic ladder is outside my grow door. I ran the exhaust 5’ to terminate near attic ladder so I can easily check for smell.

The Fluid I added to my guessed at 20% Run off: 112 FL OZ

PH Start: 6.7
PPM Start with Cal mag and Orange PH: 215

Bag 1- Recycled Dirt -Fox Farm Happy Frog
PPM Out: 930
PH Out: 6.4

Bag 2- Fox Farm Happy Frog
PPM Out: 2900
PH Out: 5.6

Bag 3- Fox Farm Happy Frog
PPM Out: 3600
PH Out: 5.5

Lamp Height: 26ā€ above, adjusted

Lamp Wattage: 168w Steady

After Thoughts:
–I found that 96 FL oz was right on for the 20% run off on the old dirt as it had no richness from the start.
–For the new ā€œricherā€ dirt I only achieved 12 FL oz of run off at 112 FL Oz. (Low)
–I probably added another 20 oz of fluid to the numbers above by finishing off the mix solution in bucket bust still was low run off volume, but I chose not to get too worried as I had 12 FL in the new dirt.
–new dirt plants look more healthy, bushier.
–Next Time: Mix 4 Gal Water as a Start Volume.
–I think they are tough enough to hit them Full Label Trio Feed. Any Suggestions from Internet Land? I am all ears. @spankyjr1 @beardless @Caligurl your thoughts? Sorry about the Novel…LOL.

I would only feed bag 1 @full strength the other 2 straight water with low dose calmag until PPM comes down below 1200
Plants have great color and look healthy wouldn’t want to overdose and screw something up now

Do you allow the tap water to set for 24 hours to remove the chlorine? I use a product called Peruvian Gold Micro Builder… it puts all the needed micro nutrients back in and you use such a small amount.

I also found this a long image and I’ve been following it. It seems it doesn’t make a difference in the end ph and my need to use ph up or down too much:

  1. Silca while stirring, let sit 10 minutes
  2. Add base nutrients
  3. Add Cal/Mag
  4. Add any other additive last (Bloom booster, growth enhancers, enzymes, amino acids and vitamins.

Also, I’m not familiar with FF Soil but the rule of thumb I go by is that I don’t add any macro or micro nutrients until the soil runoff ads drops below 850. I still add stuff like epsom salt, Cal/Mag and sometimes bone meal (all only if needed).

Your plants look great though! Everyone does it different that’s what makes this such a fun learning experience.2

After reading both your and @spankyjr1 words I will only feed the recycled dirt this next Fluid event. I do read quite often here where Rookies, like myself, over do the chems and screw up the grows with regularity around here.

The other two I will only Water and Cal Mag until the PPMs come down. I am liking the deep Green as opposed to yellowing and spotty leaves on my plants I will say.

Did you say …Peruvian Gold? Sounds interesting, LOL.

My best and really only course of action will be to focus on the PPM and PH I feel.

Update: 2 OCT (Day 35 Above Ground)

(Old Dirt Plant 6ā€ Shorter that the other 2). For the old Plant I mixed a ā€œFull Strengthā€ Bottle Line of ā€œAggressive Vegetationā€ while watering I realized I FU slightly after watering as these little Gems are Flowering mode. The Line values are minimal changes so I am pretty sure Junior will survive.

The Other 2 plants I hit them with Water and Cal Mag only. My numbers I will record below.

I did let the water sit 24 hour after I put the RO and a Slight bit of Tap in the buckets to let the Chlorine dissipate as @caligurl provided me that tip.

I put 64 oz in each plant and tried to let it sit 20 min so the solution can work on the root ball in the middle of the bag then kept adding fluid to Run off. All took 112-120 Fl OZ to achieve 20% approx. run off.

I see daytime temps climb to 80F the 4th day as there is no Moisture in the fabric bags to help lower the temp. When bags are full I am in the 77F range. I like to keep them under max 85F in case the temps climb a bit. Don’t want the temp to get out of hand on me.

I do not want things to get too Jungle like in there where the branches are all sweaty from the foliage being too thick causing Bud Rot later.

I am breaking the rules going Edward Scissor Hands on these Autos but ILGM Wedding Cake can take the abuse.

Used Dirt: This plant got full label Trio Nutes : Aggressive Veg Line on bottle

Used Dirt Run off: 1420 PPM / PH 6.3

Start off PPM: RO + Tap = 107 PPM. After CAL Mag 175 PPM

New Dirt (Bag 1) Run off: 2500 / PH 5.7

New Dirt (Bag 2) Run off: 3450 / PH 5.7

Lamp Height: Adjusted to 24"

Watts 168 Max for the HLG 135 v2 board

Open to tricks and tips suggestions. @spankyjr1 @beardless @Caligurl @MeEasy @Dennis62

Have no  but I think they are looking good I don’t see a problem keeping autos clean around the bottoms and lightly thinned out up top I’d rather do the trimming instead of fighting with mold like you were saying. I’ve watched a couple people training autos and even main-lining them and getting great results so I wouldn’t worry too much

What is Going on Brother?

Do you have a Grow you are documenting currently on the Forum? Always open to info from members.

I have a thread I call my diary I wouldn’t call it a journal I document my grow but we do quite a bit of just bs’ing lol I’ll tag you over

Probably shorter from not having enough nutrients in the soil like the other 2 now that you’re feeding it should catch up

The plants looking good keep it up! :sunglasses:

I was helping my daughter move yesterday came home and tent temp was 96.7F my exhaust hose came undone as I’m changing the exhaust up a bit and everything is just fitted and not secured yet hoping to finish later today after some more moving (yuk) I’m hurting today

Spanky,

I know this is probably too late, but invest $50 in a ā€œShoulder Dollyā€ at HD. I did a DIY move with my Son recently.

26 ft uhaul and a 6x12 towable and some heavy a@@ furniture. My hands are not the best anymore and without that item and regular Dolly it would have been impossible for us to get it done.

I know one thing for sure about moving houses. Never again!

Dennis,

I think I am finally aware of the proper process this Go around, or… one that works very well anyway.

I am just trying to follow examples of other people’s successes along with trying to learn from other’s failures, as well as my own.

I know that with all my mistakes the previous Grow, I am still smoking the shxt out of it and Getting STONED.

Best part about it. I am dealing with a known product at a HUGE Discount. I have paid for all my Grow Gear.

Yes sir you know my cheap a@@ grow, my electric bill is only around 5 bucks a month or 20 for the grow, nutes, soil, seeds. It’s crazy, for last grow it was around 18 dollars an ounce  glad things are going well for you this round, they look great. Tho you do everything I don’t lol I’m following several grows that use training methods, hell I’m scared to death to touch mine. But I’m watching buddy keep up the good work

Those plants have good looking bones. Looking good.
Are you thinking you could have taken out more of the secondary growth tips? This is about the point where I would try to figure out if less is more sort of thing.

@beardless

I am looking at the plants today. I have 75F with 70% RH without the humidifier running. We had some rain recently so hoping I can keep that down to acceptable levvel. I know it will dry out and get back to normal soon. I’m Due to water/ feed these Thursday.

So getting back to your comment, I am going to defoiliate very hard next watering as I want good circulation which may be a little tricky in growing 3 in such a confined space. I think that one cut was perfect. The plants are growing vertical and buds are forming nicely so am real happy with that… They are going to have some nice tops. This ILGM Wedding Cake is a good tough strain. I did my best to F them up last grow but couldnt. Nice smoke too.

Spanky,

Are you still aerating your solutions in your feed buckets? If so… you are mixing all chems to appropriate levels then aerating? For how long would you estimate they mix?
