I run the Vivosun seems to be ok so far. Make sure there is no time release in the perlite. Just straight perlite is all you need.
I run Bushmasters Coco Loco. It’s a pretty good soil. Made by Fox Farm.
@dbrn32 I am pretty sure you are the light guru on here so I will ask this question in my thread. Still trying to get the hang of this forum didn’t mean to hi jack someone else’s thread. I want a good petionometer(spelling?) For the fixture I am getting Hlg 600 watt 4 quantum board. It says in description I will need one if I want to dim the light. Could you suggest a good unit that will give me an idea of what percentage I am dimming the light down to. Example 50% 25% and so on. Thank you in advance.
Maybe a potentiometer? The resistor for controlling leds?
You need a potentiometer if you get driver ending in letter B. You want a 100k pot, it has to read at least 100k ohms or you won’t hit max output current.
I don’t of any off the top of my head, but if you found one that has detent at 25k, 50k, and 75k would do what you’re asking. Otherwise you would have to check with a multimeter and make reference marks or something like that.
@dbrn32 thanks I have not found one with marks on it but I can use a multimeter pretty well. I have to look into the driver they are putting in the build kit because I feel I will need to dim this fixture to keep the plants from burning as I want to try and use the same light for the whole grow minus germinating and sprouting.
If you need a pot to dim it, it’s most likely hlg-600h-54b or an invertronics driver. That’s what woulemphasized textd make sense anyway. Some of the knock off kits maybe different.
@dbrn32 thanks alot lots of things coming together. All new filters for ro filter gonna be mounting next to my sink. Exhaust fan and ph meter should arrive tomorrow. Need to sweat some plumbing next week and the ro unit should be ready. Vent exhaust fan, do a little electrical work getting cords into tent putting in power strips timer ect. But well on my way to a sweet grow tent. What are your thoughts on a germinating heat pad. I was thinking of placing a soda bottle bottom over top of the seedlings to keep them moist since I will be planting the new sprouts in there final pots 5 gallon. I am concerned about trying to keep the soil moist enough dont want to over water super concerned about this.
Making humidity dome out of plastic bottle works good.
@dbrn32 I hate to bother you but I am trying to order the hlg 600h it comes in three configurations 4000k 3000k and vrspec which says better for flower the difference in price is not an issue so I am wo dering if you could chime in on the difference between the 3 styles and what might be the best option for myself a first time indoor grower. I really only want to purchase one fixture so it is very important to me that I get the best possible light.
R-spec is latest and greatest from them, otherwise I would probably get the 3000k.
I am going to be popping my beans in the next couple days waiting for the last couple pieces of equipment. Namely the light it will take 3 to 5 days to get here and I will need a day to assemble the light. How long can I leave my babies under 2 75 watt 55k compact fluorescent bulbs to get them growing.
@Jbum Everyone is gone today so I am free to make noise and work on the tent. I want to mount my fan today and vent. I have room outside the tent to mount and it will be easier to duct. Is it possible to do this or does the fan need to be inside the tent or am I good to run outside. If so should I mount charcoal filter inside the tent on intake side or outside the tent on the exhaust side. If I am not mistaken you or sick kid have the infinity duct fan. I have the 6" model with the controller.
@imSICKkid just read back through my posts you have the I infinity fans I have one 6" can I mount fan outside tent then where do I mount charcoal filter inside intake or outside tent exhaust side.
Mount filter inside tent on the exhaust fan
If you have a good filter you can put it on either side of your exhaust fan. Most prefer to place their filter inside the tent so that the fan is SUCKING air through the filter rather than PUSHING it through. Totally up to you.

Mounted fan, ducted the fan to outside mounted a vent outside thru brick. Long day no one home so went ahead mounted a bar in tent to slide the temp lights up and down. Added soil to pots gonna dunk 5 seeds tonight in ro water that I also changed all filters and membrane and mounted in basement. Now to get rid of the trash and mess from today check back in in an hour or so.
Great job man looks awesome!
