Yeah I just checked it out. I still don’t have it all the way understood what I need to do. I know I started last night by putting the everclear and 14 g of ground up trim in the freezer. Trying to understand the 3-minute wash or 15 minute wash and all of that stuff

All depends what you are after. Here is what I do to make some pretty good quality wax for edibles. I freeze the alcohol and weed for 24 hrs. I then combine them and shake for a minute and put back in freezer. Every 15 minutes I repeat for an hour. I then filter with whatever you have, cheescloth, coffee filters etc. At that point you can put in a shallow dish away from flames with a fan on it to evaporate. I put mine in a source turbo to reclaim the alcohol and end up with wax. You dont need fancy equipment but if you do this alot you save money on the grain alcohol. I then decarb after in a sealed jar for an hour at 240.
If you want high quality dab, the short wash with dry ice is preferred, it picks up less plant material. Then filter as much as desired. For edibles and tincture the dry ice is not needed.

And so what do you do whenever you’re left with a pile of goo for the edibles? Do you take the pile of goo and infuse it into coconut oil if you want
Yeah I don’t think I could get any dry ice neither I don’t even know where they sell that at
I will measure out a gram and a half to make brownies. I use a double boiler with veg oil and butter. When the butter melts I add wax and stir til everything is the same color. Then into the egg wash and then the brownie mix. You could just melt a stick of butter add wax, stir and pour into a mold or Tupperware dish. It is pretty versatile.
I am making wax now these are made with low quality trim but well filtered to get a nice color. I probably get 3 to 4 grams from an ounce of trim. After I decarb the oil will darken up.

Your local supermarket often carries dry ice.
Running super cold for short duration preferentially extracts THC and terpenes and leaves the waxes and lipids that are extracted at higher temperatures. I normally do a ten minute wash after everything is cooled to -40F then decant quickly off of the plant material. I use ‘sprout lids’ for a Mason jar which is a fitted screen. This gets the liquid off of the plant material.

Note the color is gold and no green: chlorophyll has been avoided by doing a short cold wash. The oil is 90% THC as opposed to a full spectrum wash at 75% THC.
We normally use full spectrum oil in a tincture of alcohol and meter with an eye dropper into a shot glass of OJ before bed.
You can add to coconut oil or MCT oil and cook with it: make brownies or cookies. Tincture is best for gummies. I also decarb the flower before doing a wash for full spectrum: it takes out the last of the water in the plant material which is not helpful in your ethanol.

That is some beautiful oil. I have yet to try a high quality qwet run as I normally press for dab. But that is fire and is motivating me to do a dry ice run. @Myfriendis410

If you have a Baskin Robbins you can ask them when they get deliveries and get dry ice then.
There are also small scientific freezers available that get to-40.

I do 15-20 min wash without shaking. It’s left in freezer and I just give a twist of jar in 5 min intervals for first wash. Then I dump through a mesh strainer for a quick drain to lessen chlorophyll absorption from filtering. Then filter that wash for fines.
You can use a coffee maker heating plate, with a water bath, for the final reduction. Just put down an oven mitt on burner first.
Here is an example (70% reduced) I have from before I got equipment. You’d just take it all way down past this tincture.
Edit: Nothing special needed and you should have everything already.

That’s exactly what it’s for. I do dabs every evening and prefer it over flower as you’re not smoking cellulose.

@Myfriendis410 hey man so I bought these tiny baby mason jars today they are about the size of a lighter LOL so the everclear and Bud has been in the fridge in the freezer for a few days now. Okay so this is what I have so far please let me know what I’m leaving out. So I put the bud in the jar, cover it slightly with everclear, put it in the freezer for 5 minutes, shake it a little bit and put it back in for 5 more minutes, do it another time, and then strain it? Whenever you strain do you squeeze it when you get to the end? Please let me know if I have this right I would like to get started. Thanks @patrick1960 @Budbrother @Caligurl @Low
Do it just like that. I would agitate once a minute though.

I don’t shake to avoid picking up chlorophyll. I agitate with a simple twist to disrupt the absorption layer surrounding buds. My jars never leave the freezer. Open freezer, twist, close, and repeat. As for pressing out the buds, Nope. I don’t wanna pick up chlorophyll. Save that for the second run for edibles. This is my SOP.

@Myfriendis410 okay so you mean every one minute I need to open the freezer and give it a little twist? I’m trying to see once I have the mixture together what is the longest it should be in the freezer for all together?

Shak the snot out of the jar then back in the freezer. Repeat until 10 minutes have passed.
