Hello new to growing. Plants grew great and i harvested with no problems. I did the wash of peroxide and water in 5 gallon bucket mixture and rinsed with water. hung up to dry in closet and watch humidity and temp for 6 days. Problem is they smelt great going into the drying but now have no smell of marijuana at all they smell even a bit like dry grass clippings. is this normal? i am ready to mason jar and cure. will that sweet marijuana smell come back or did i do something wrong and this pot is ruined?
Answers on another thread. Keep to 1 thread please. It is easier to keep track of.
sorry i am just scared i didnt put in right thread
Can’t provide an answer, yet.
I wiill be facing this dilema in two weeks.
Yes, the “cure” (after the week dry process) should allow the grass smell to dissapate or convert.
In theory, You ar on track. @spudgunner is one of the guru I follow and could answer better.
The grass smell is chlorophyll. Once it has worked itself out, the smell will return.
After you do the final trim an jar up The aroma will come back in the curing process. If you did not dry your product too fast. Always good to shoot for a slow drying process temperature 65 to 69 an humidity 45 to 50 you should be fine At six days . Happy growing
You put too much faith in me @DEEPDIVERDAVE !
@friedfran you’re going to use jars to cure, good for you! I hate spending more money for storing your product, and you can get a great cure without buying Grove bags. I hope you have/need lots of jars! You want to make sure it is properly dried. Take a bud and roll a nice big joint. Does it stay lit when you smoke or do you have to relight it all the time? If it burns nice, it’s time to cure.
I used 22oz mason jars, have about 3 dozen of them. Usually can put between half oz and an oz in each, depending on your buds and how dense they are. You don’t want to pack them in tight, just drop them in until it gets close to the top. You don’t want to use huge jars for a couple reasons…if one gets rot, you only lose a bit, and as you smoke from one jar, the others are still curing. I also put in a 58% Boveda pack (size 8) in each jar. Some use 62% packs, I find the 58% ones are better for rolling .
When burping, store the jars in a cool dark place. Take the lids off and let them breathe every day for about half hour. I open mine up, go have a shower, then close them afterwards, put them back under the spare bed in my office. After a week to 10 days, you can seal them and forget them. I label mine with the strain name and chop date, but you should label them so you don’t mix up your strains or your harvests.
And I’m chopping my tent tomorrow, but my dilemma is I need some bigger jars! Some of the colas are 3 to 4 inches in diameter and over a foot long! I might have to go and buy half dozen 1 gallon jars if I want to keep the buds whole for that Holy Shit!!! effect when I show people! I have a week to find them, my dry is usually 5 days, but with these thick ones, I ill probably need to sweat them in a cardboard box for a coupe days and then redry for a couple more, just to get all the moisture out from the middle of them. At least on my 5 9Lb Hammers.
we all should be so lucky.
Faith in @Spudgunner, well deserved. as noted by such a helpful reply.
I appreciate the method share, as I am new to “CURE”. Never had more than enough to smoke.
Not a problem now, shortly, I am very concerned about not screwing it up. Mar/April plants terminated for seeds, in July. June/July plants doing awesome, awaiting first rain (expected rot resulting from rain).
No Rain today, yeah. Trichomes CLEAR, but not highly densely “dotted” at tips. Quart jars available. Many many RH meters and 62% boveita packs.
I know! We’ve been lucky (??) about no rain since early July. Vancouver is in a drought! Sucks for forest fires, but so far my 2 remaining outdoor photo plants are doing well, they might even mature this year! Those 2 MUST come down in 3 weeks or less. They have to be dried and burped before Nov 14 when we go to Rome! Hairs are turning brown and starting to recede now, so hoping 3 weeks will do it. If not, I might have some racy high weed. At least these 2 aren’t huge, maybe an ounce each, so not a big loss if they don’t make it. Not too worried, have lots of weed from inside, but still, more is better!
Yeah, in my former life I was an instructor. Old man had a kayaking business and we ran skill courses, 10 days in duration. You have to teach the WHY’s as well as the WHAT’s. And then 30 years as client support on PC’s and stuff like that. If you teach someone why something is happening, they likely aren’t going to repeat it and cause you another trip to help. Helps everyone, they learn something, and you get less work!
And some of the things I do make people go WTF??? So I preface with my scenario and then folks can go AHHHH, that’s why he did that! And it gives others a chance to say Why didn’t you do this? and I can go Good idea, never thot of that, next time I will!
That’s how we all learn something, even me!
Happy growing all! And even better smoking!

It will come back during the cure in probably about 3 weeks. Chlorophil, amonias, and other are being purged from plant to cause that smell, but it will go back to normal
If u have a moisture meter, check the rh. Do u have the mini hydrometer to put in the jars. A couple of my strains smell like hay until they started curing. Just don’t let rh climb…
thank you. I have humidity packs to put in jars from infinity pack company. they say i dont have to burp the majon jar with them inside each jar. should i burp anyway?

I have used grove bags, i don’t know about the jars. I love the bags. No burping and last years grow is still at 60 rh.
Please do not open multiple threads covering the same subject. I moved the other thread to this one.
I used to use boveda packs but stopped because although they worked really well for stabilizing rh they were kind of sucking the terps out of the buds making them somewhat bland
PNW bracing for high winds storm tonight. Outdoor plants staked and tied as best I can.
Harvest 2 weeks or rain or frost, which ever comes first.
Had my son and his gf here for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Good visit, we went over some wedding details and lots of turkey! Took them back to the city yesterday so now I’ve gotten my drying room back. Today I emptied the tent. This is a pic from last week.
These are the 4 Dutch Treat clones, after a wet trim and before a bud wash. They can barely stand by themselves!
Solid nuggets, super sticky!
Group hug!
Next up, the 5 clones of my 9Lb Hammer. They needed to be tied up in the tent, just a little top-heavy!
Some of the lower branches were growing upside down, weird larfy buds. But all my top foxtails fattened up nicely!
These are the 5 main colas, their bottom branches are in the background.
These things are solid! Can’t wait for them to dry so I ca get a weight on these!
3 hours later, I’m done! From the left, the 4 Dutch Treats. Next, the 5 big colas then 5 bottom halves of the 8 Lb Hammers.
those are some beauties
