Trying my hand at growing inside in a tent. The tent is 2x4. My issue is I have to keep it in the basement which is usually not very warm. 60 degrees give or take right now. Summer time it’ll warm up a bit more. Is there a heater I can put in the tent to boost the temp just a bit that’s safe inside the tent enclosed. Or any other ideas would be appreciated.
how old are the plants youre growing? and are they auto or photo?
I would heat the basement, not put a heater in the tent
Yes , I have the same problem. My tent is in a unheated garage. I have a small electric heater with thermostat in my 4x4. It can easily keep my tent up in the 70’s
seedling heating mats work, autos you can leave the lights longer to use the heat, photos too if theyre in veg
I use a small oil filled radiator heater in my 4x4s controlled by inkbird temp controller.
Seedling
Thanks for the advice. Gonna try a heating mat and see how that does.
Look for a small heater for under desks. Be quick though, summer gear is already in the stores. Consider also that the greatest heatsink on Earth is the Earth. it stays below 60 degrees. So consider elevating or insulating your girls.
Amazon has some inexpensive 100 and 200 watt reptile heat lamps. I use these often and hang them from a ratchet strap
May not work well. Water or weight and electricityy issues.
Elevate on 2 inch Pink Insulation boarding (4x8panels, HD/LOWez).
Cheap China lights, heat my tents, nicely.
I used the 2" pink until I switched to planter dollies. So much better when you can move them around.
I have two 4x4 tents with 24inches between, both on the pink 2inch insulation boards.
Only the step ladder, makes holes.
Planters or feet, no dents.
Tents run 53-73 Off/On.
Cold this weekend.
My 2x4x6 is in my garage as well, just insulated the attic and ran a insulated 4inch duct from my laundry room ceiling fan. Sucks in warm or cold air into my AC Infinity tent and keeps the garage a little warmer and cooler during the crazy weather here in California. Temps outside the house can be 30° to 113° here, so always have to watch them a bit in the winter and summer. So far lately they have had 55°-60° at night and 70°-74° during the day.
@RH82 temperature can really be a problem. I like seeing how creative everyone can be in overcoming our grow problems. Good luck and happy growing
@RH82 welcome to the forum! I have a 4x4 tent in my garage. I used a small heater with thermostat during the cold weather. It worked great. Now I’m having overheating problems. Have a portable ac unit coming. It will take. Up one cubic feet of space. That’s a lot of real estate to give up but I will be able to continue growing. Don’t think this would be feasible for your tent. Good luck and happy growing
