Granddaddy Purp Big Stretch

So this is my first grow (Granddaddy Purple) I started in July from seed (ILGM Photo). I vegged for 6 weeks and flipped to flower and she doubled her height in three weeks. Understanding the plant is supposed to be “compact,” I measured her this morning at just under 5 feet. Photos were taken about 5 days ago.

I suspect she is too tall for an indica, right? If so, will it have impact on bud quality and yield? What can I do in the future to prevent it?

The stretching won’t.

More intense lighting will encourage a plant to limit vertical growth.

LST - low stress training…or…HST - high stress training.

LST is bending and tying stems over to spread the canopy out.

AC Infinity 100w LED has been about 18 inches above canopy and at full strength at any given moment. The light should be powerful enough?

Hmm no, that’s a pretty weak lamp. Beauty looking plants tho. Cannabis is light hungry…I’m using 2x growers choice ROI-E720. They are 720w each.

The pic i just posted is just me vegging out a couple clones…those are 2x 200w CFL panels.

200 watts is ideal. You’ll get less stretch and a more productive plant.

Based on fan blades width and double nodes and a small bit of research, you should definitely have an indica dominant strain. ILGM states this is a cross of 2 other indicas…Purple Urkle and Big Bud.
