Genetics Question on ILGM Purple Haze

Hey Y’all!
Soooooo, I’m currently in WK 8-9 of flower. I started flushing this week and thought I was well on my way to harvest by next BUT I have been monitoring my girls trichromes and have noticed that this strain doesn’t seem to be on par with others when it comes to the trichomes maturity timeline. I’m personally looking for a 70/30 (cloudy/amber) coloration on my girls trichromes, but so far only have clear… I did read somewhere that the Kush varieties of Cannabis take longer for their trichromes to mature but the article didn’t go any further than that statement. Any tid bit of knowledge on this subject would be beneficial. TY!

Every plant is different and adheres to it’s own timeline.

That’s definitely been my experience too. Even four of the same strain from the same pack of seeds will vary pretty heavily. I had three Samsquanches and one was absolutely runty. The other two did much better but only one really knocked it out of the park for the roll of the genetic dice.

If I’m not mistaken, Purple Haze is a sativa leaner. Sativas as a really generic statement take longer to mature than the hybrids or indica strains. She’ll take particularly long if you’re comparing her against other strains that are “not sativa.”

That is true but I figure since it’s ILGM genetics somebody on here may have experience with this strain. I’m trying to determine a timeline to base my care for the plants off of. I.e, at the moment I am flushing my soil, but if the trichromes aren’t going to change just yet, then I should of waited to flush… So either I feed nutrients again or let the plant cannibalize its own leafs. I’m just looking for a little nod in the right direction.

You’re right it is a Sativa dom… So then should I forget the flushing for now and go back to feeding until I see cloudy trichomes start to develop? Oh, btw yeah…. Out of 4 plants of the same strain, only one colored itself purple…

That may be the right move - I am personally not a flusher so I may not be much help there. Perhaps @Newt can give a bit of guidance. 8-9 weeks feels too early for the sativa learners - assuming the water-only gives you 2 weeks before she starts to deteriorate, that might put you 2 weeks too short to have a good cloudy/amber mix.

Ok, Well back to our regularly scheduled programming… Thank you for the help btw. I guess I’m just going to have to wait a few more weeks and let these buds get fuller.

I also feed up to harvest, flushing before harvest is over rated

Ty for those pics @beardless… Wow It’s crazy how your trichromes kept growing… Looks like I have all the info I need to get right back on track. Btw… how did she shmoke?

ILGM Purple Haze, RDWC in General Hydroponics. Great strain: upbeat without being jittery. Never saw a hint of purple. But that was a 12 oz. plant in 5 1/2 months.

When in doubt, keep feeding. It is always better to feed to long, than racing the yellow death to harvest.

I liked growing it too. I started seeds on 3/25/21 and harvested the last clone on 12/25/21. Nine months of growing exceptional genetics from ILGM. It is a good thing my wife likes it. As you can attest it is good producer. Total dried & cured - almost 1600g / 56 oz / 3.5#.
