Genetics and herming issues

I’ve done 2 grows now, my first grow was ilgm autos girl scout cookies, Bruce banner and gorilla glue. I had great results but wanted to try soon other strains.

Second grow I did mostly dutch passion genetics, cbg force, dasfran, Durban dew, and orange bud. All had herm issues except for orange bud.

I’m on my third grow now and had two herms out of 8 fem photos, one Humboldt seed comp and Barneys farms grew male flowers at the same time as the girl flowers.

I am measuring my light intensity and am not going over recommended DLI and these plants look amazing other than the male parts.

My question is am I getting bad genetics or am I doing something to cause this? I feel like 6 herms, out of 19 seeds total planted seems really high.

Thanks for your insight everyone.

Based on this article it seems as if I have had bad luck on the draw with receiving herm seeds, no heat stress, no early defoliation, healthy plants, no infestations or bugs, just happen to have both sex’s from the start.

I have read a considerable amount on the forum and have not seen many others complaining or mentioning high herm counts, which to me seems as if I am doing something wrong.

But thank you for the link Midwestguy!

You can list everything you use like you medium/lights/temp/rh if growing synthetic what nutrients line. How often you feed. Ph/ppm. Even include any pictures.
This forum is great the more information you’re willing to share the better chances someone may notice something.

Having a fresh perspective on things is usually helpful. Not saying this is the case but what you may call in parameters may be off.

Like literally could be anything and then again could be genetics. I’ve had a few plants hermie on me.

Sounds like some bad genetics Growmie :love_you_gesture:

This is what I am also thinking/hoping, I gotta say finding bad breeders by planting is getting expensive.

I am doing Soil grow in a 8x8 tent , I have a HLG scorpion and a 650R for 4x8 coverage and a ACI IONFRAME EVO6, for another 4x4 area in the tent and leave the last 4x4 area free. I keep max temp of 80 with a max humidity of 60% for veg and 50% for flower. I have a custom organic fertilizer, 3 part fertilizer that I developed for cannabis growing my flower mix NPK is 3-5-4 (5s) (6ca) I fertilizer with 7 grams of that per 1.3 gallons of water every 2.5 days with dryout, run off test usually around 600-800ppm and top testing before fertilizer usually brings around around the same ppm with a ph of 6.5. current DLI for flower is dialed in around 32 DLI and I keep my VPD around 1.2-1.3.

No photos at the moment to share as I cut them and bag them the second I notice the issue starting.

Some of the best flower and genetics are herm’s lots of factors to account for male flowers, normally I find a few seeds after harvest on all my outdoor girls.

Summer 2022 (indoor tent). Lighting timer issues. five males developed.
Seeds now.
