From Seed to Smoke - Harvest Eagle's Journal vol. 1

Here’s a flower off of Royal Gorilla. Those Gorilla glue genetics certainly showed through in trimming. Did that thing where you push your fingers together and the skin stretches before they pop apart. Note a strong gassy smell.

Here’s a Fruit Spirit nug. Looks similar but definitely didn’t glue the fingers as powerfully as the above. Had a vaguely fruity aroma.

I also did a couple unruly buds from Mother Gorilla. Wasn’t a lot but she was already gluing the fingers like her cousin. Kind of a musky note if I recall correctly. Will double check that on the more comprehensive trim.

Still have a substantial amount of Fruit Spirit and almost all of Mother Gorilla to go. Trimming is rough but making progress!

My being busy lately actually makes Cookies Gelato straggling a nice hiccup. Spreads out the neverending trim phase without anyone getting too overripe.

One day, I will be a very very happy owner of a trim machine. :joy: It’s nice handling the pretty flowers and I love me some scissor hash but omg, so many hours get sunk into this phase.

As promised, here’s a pic of cookies gelato to go with the others

3/25/25

It’s been a busy morning so I forgot pictures but this part isn’t crazy exciting as far as pictures go anyway.

Cleaned the tent and all the implements.

Readied next grow soil.

Used a large bag of ocean forest and a tiny bit I had left over in another bag. It was bigger than 12qt, so maybe 1.5 cubic feet? Felt like 30-40 pounds so that’s probably it. :joy:

Also used 1 - 8oz bag perlite, 2 - 8 oz bags peat moss. Mixed all that together. (in 4 pots) Then dug out a V and topped them with 12 qt happy frog.

This all leveled off nicely at the top of the 4 - 5 gallon fabric pots.

I then scooped out a V of the happy frog and filled little 8oz (I think) plastic cups I had earlier stabbed a bunch of times with a pin in the bottoms.

The cup was then nestled into the V I dug out and they were all brought in to their spots and trays in the tent.

Next, germination!

This round we are running 4 cultivars again!

ILGM Durban Poison
ILGM Girl Scout Cookies Extreme
RQS Chocolate Haze
RQS Sour Diesel

Each seed was processed like last time. 1/4 of a half paper towel, folded, wet, wrung and then seed folded up inside. After that, into a paint cup. I labeled all the cups and put them into a light proof container and into the tent to germinate.

Soon we’ll have things kicked off!

Inside 24 hours and Sour Diesel started to pop! She’s in the soil and we await the others!

It also occurred to me that I left out a fair amount of info.

Harvest went as well as it could. Cookies Gelato was just crossing the finish line come that weekend.

No signs of mold or anything from harvest or drying. Everything has begun curing now.

There was apparently a brand new invasion of mealybugs. Spotted a couple on stems but only 1 bud had an infestation. Seems like they arrived just in time to be removed. Lucky break I suppose as long as the buggers don’t crop up anywhere. So far so good.

Yield seems similar to last time. I’m thinking I might’ve overtrained considering they’re only in 5 gallon pots so I think I’ll try 8 tops this time and see how it goes. If not a greater yield it’ll grow a bit faster so I’m optimistic.

In any case I’m sure we’ll get a pleasant bunch of flowers by the end.

Checked before work and Chocolate Haze has popped! She’s now in the soil.

No action out of Durban Poison yet but it looked like Girl Scout Cookies Extreme was starting to crack open. Expecting to have her popped and sown by the time I’m back home from work!

As expected, GSCE is sown now.

Moistened Durban Poison a bit more. Now we wait for her to pop and everyone else to break ground.

Durban Poison popped yesterday.

She’s been sown and we await her rise!

All 3 of the others have officially broken ground though!

Still rocking the humidity domes for the moment.

I sampled Royal Gorilla a few minutes ago too!

Taste is still kinda planty so curing continues. Effects are very clear, uplifting, kinda mellow but not couch locked at all.

I like it, all the good without the impediments of heavier strains. A very good cultivar for when one is active.

It’s been around a week since our last girl popped and everyone is above ground!

Chocolate Haze is doing well.

GSC Extreme looked like she fell over some and righted her top already. I stood her back up.

Sour Diesel is still leading the charge in growth.

Durban Poison is still small but she’s working on it! Ironic she has potential to be the biggest soon.

Temp is in the mid - high 70s. Humidity hovering at 50%. I give water around the edges of the cups then I mist the soil around the cup in the pot. Also mist the sides of the pots, in the now unused humidity cups and some on the floor. Also running humidifier on it’s gentler setting.

All of this to raise the humidity for at least the early part of their day. They seem good with that.

Eagerly awaiting transplant.

Mykos at the ready. Maybe next week or so I’ll give them a heavier watering with some fish sh!t or great white.

Pre humidifying and watering.

3 days later and a wild hair snuck up on me! Got me the way they do. :fearful:

The three bigger plants have been transplanted!

It was… Not my best work but I don’t think anyone got hurt. Perhaps a bit disheveled is all.

Durban Poison still chilling in her cup for now but was more root growth than I expected.

Mixed Mykos into the transplant site and watered a bit more than usual. May give them more later depending on how they act.

Expecting light transplant shock. However I don’t want to over water them before they anchor themselves into their new holes. I’ll play it by ear.

Misting conditions and water administration for Durban Poison are unchanged.

Transplants 1-3 we’re successful! No one looks particularly perturbed!

Now we’re just waiting for little Ms. Durban Poison to catch up and another set of two of leaves on the others to begin training!

Last weekend I transplanted Durban Poison(wlmykos ofc) and topped the other 3. I then promptly forgot to do my update. :joy:

Everyone is looking great!

I’m now splitting a gallon of PH’d water between them every 3 days or so. I’m pretty sure they’re big enough to be less dainty and they seem to be responding well.

I forgot to add Fish Sh!t so I put it next to the pH adjusters. Hopefully remember next time. I’d like to alternate Fish Sh!t and Great white while they’re eating the soil.

Then I’ll probably stop with them when we start doing foods and such.

In other news, here’s notes on the previous harvest’s yield!

Royal Gorilla - Clear, uplifting, a little giddy. Not heavy on body. Could be mistaken for weak if not for a notable rise. Great one if doing stuff and need to stay sharp.

Mother Gorilla - Pleasant mental stone. Relaxing mentally, slight giddyness. Mellow body not couch locked. Took a few minutes to set in. Nice to chill out mentally without getting too weighed down.

Cookies Gelato - Sweet with a gassy darkness. Spacey, uplifting mentally. Relaxing and fuzzy physically. Probably could couchlock with enough. Therapeutic for the body. Great for relaxing.

Fruit Spirit - Mild earthy spice with a touch of fruityness. Balanced effects. Head has a good rise, typical of most herbs. Can feel shoulders relax a bit. Could probably inspire couchlock but isn’t after a couple puffs. Stone feels more cloudy than heavy but there is a weight to it. Probably a very ‘stoned’ high with more. Another great one to relax with.

Have begun giving food to the ladies. Started at 1/4 the amount. Still seemed a bit hungry so upped to 1/2. Noticed very slight burns on leaf tips so gave 1/2 feeding again.

Jacks A, B & MS + silica + molasses + amino acids. All PH’d ofc.

Have topped for the 3rd time on 3 plants. Waiting for Durban Poison to grow a bit more so I can deliver her final topping as well.

Defoliated a fair amount. It’s hard to tell though. :joy: I don’t really like doing it so it’s heavy to me but probably moderate or light to many.

I feel bad cutting the poor ladies. It’s different when it’s dead or messed up growth but this is strategic removal of otherwise healthy foliage.

Expecting to have one more round of defoliation before it’s all said and done. Likely in prep for flowering.

Anyway, they’ve grown a lot since I last posted, so without further ado.

Just fed them so they’re looking a little hungry. I’m also aware of some yellowing. I’m monitoring as the food is introduced to see if it fixes the issue before stressing out over it.

Also, most of my defoliation was towards the bottom and some in the middle so you REALLY can’t tell from canopy pictures. :joy:

Mainly enough for comfortable watering, more airflow and just some stuff that I’m pretty sure wasn’t going to reach the net when we get our Scrog on.

Lastly, raised lights and upped intensity to 50%. I’ve been slacking a bit on that but their compact growth didn’t exactly spur me on.

If all is good with that I’ll set on slowly upping it. Aiming for 80% before we flip to flower. Then we’ll work up to :100:!

Bro you’re doing great. Those colors on that last harvest were beautiful. Cant wait to see these in flower.

Thanks! Always hoping for the visual wonders but happy as long as they make it.

Flipped to flower today along with a feeding. They got moved and defoliated some last weekend and they seemed good to go.

The move was a result of their bedroom going to another. Unfortunately I couldn’t procure the necessary means to put them in a shed (yet) but I was able to build an enclosure in the house to keep the cats away from the tent. SOB tried clawing it WHILE I was setting the tent back up so .. necessary. :expressionless_face:

Used some 2x1s, metal screen on the bottom and fiberglass up top because it’s much cheaper. Less than $200 for the knowledge that my little devils won’t shred my stuff.

My tent and my wife’s tent of various other plants are pictured.

Anyway, all set up, added scrog net and trimmed. Now I fed, flipped and we wait!

Here’s a picture of everyone! I’ll do solo pictures when they start showing off. 2 weeks for the first glimpses I expect. Always a suspenseful time.

9/2 it’s been about 2.5 weeks and we have some baby flowers!

Everyone grew like a foot except for Sour Diesel. She does appear to have flowers though so I’m betting there’s a dominant indica trait at play.

Sour Diesel, she’s shorter and in the back so can’t get a very glamorous pic.

Durban Poison

Flecks on the leaves there don’t appear to be mold or anything. I suspect she had a weird nute week or something.

Nute schedule and ph has been consistent and I slipped them micronutrients last time just to make sure they were savvy. It is here that the pretty pics begin!

Ok, so I’m a bit surprised but 3 out of 4 are looking almost picturesque done-ness! I thought I had at least a couple more weeks.

I’m seeing basically no transparency so gave straight ph’d water. May begin the reaping this weekend! If not then certainly next.

As expected from a haze, Chocolate Haze is a week or two behind.

Chocolate Haze

She’d probably be good to harvest now but since I still see a few clear she can wait until last at least. Ofc she’s in the front. :joy:

That, however is because Durban Poison was expected to also take longer. She’s directly behind Chocolate Haze because I figured a ‘landrace’ would possibly take even longer than a hybrid.

Honestly, I’m teetering on disappointed with ilgm on this one. If I were to appraise her I would certainly say hybrid, closer to the middle of the spectrum.

She’s as tall as gsce and chocolate Haze but her leaves are not super finger like and she’s matured in 9 ish weeks. I’ll hold my judgement until she’s sampled though.

I can say fairly confidently she’s not a landrace(expected, honestly, they barely exist anymore) but I’m not going to down her until I see the effects firsthand. As long as she leans to sativa effects I could still feel ok about a high rated review.

If nothing else, she’s pretty. :joy:

Sorry for rushed pics, microscope was dying and plant pics were an afterthought to separate the trichome pics. May be more plant pics but will definitely be a trimmed flower pic or two.

Alright, so day 3 of harvesting. Have finished Girl Scout Cookies Extreme and Sour Diesel. Still working on Durban Poison.

Dropping a couple pics, from our wet trim adventures.

Sour Diesel was interesting in that she was a foot shorter than the others and buds were much smaller but amounted to around the same amount as gsce.

As always it’s a painful marathon but we’re getting it done. :joy:

Thanks! Finally finished with those 3, now just waiting on Ms. Chocolate Haze to finish up. Gonna just keep checked her until she’s done! Just tied her up a lot since the other plants aren’t there to help support the borders. Rockets were going wild!
