Hey guys so I harvested the black widow about 3 weeks ago and it’s some solid smoke forsure, white ash, slow burn, tastes pretty good too.
But I have another grow going now. I’ll have some pictures a little later but I’ll be in two different tents this time since I have another light now it’s a HPS 1000w light that can switch to 750W and 600w and another really bright setting. I was having some heating issues with the light because of how hot it would get so I have a ac unit to blow cold air through the lamp and keep it a lot colder in the one tent for when it’s time to swap to flower.
I’m gonna try some LST this time and SCROG. I had the screen up last time but didn’t use it for the full effect if at all lol…
If you can tag anyone along to help me out that’d be awesome! Thank you guys! Look forward to seeing how these turn out
Also I’ll be using FF soil and ph to 6.0-6.8. Not sure with the whole PPM yet I have a meter to read it but not sure how to control that I’ve read so much on it but it still just stumps me… 4x4x6 and another 6x4x5 I wanna say is the dimensions of the other tent. The only thing I’m a little nervous about is the smell because I only had 2 going last time and this time I have 5, I have a carbon filter and in-line fan from last time so hopefully the smell stays down
I’m done now lol thank you for reading through if you did!
Golden goat is getting some LST I transplanted either one of the Bruce banners or sky walkers, so hopefully all turns out well I need more soil now lol…
Watching with interest!
Just nearing the end of my first run. In a 4x4x7, soil, LST, HST & SCROG. Differing methods and plant sizes all into the same net - all stitched and tucked.
Best of luck mate!
Thank you man! Link me your journal I’m definitely trying to watch it man!
First time LSTing so hopefully turns out well. I’m hoping to eventually figure out which is which in flower lol
No problems mate - you will see my whole run - mistakes and all!
It sounds crazy - but the plants will tell you when they are ready to flower, they tell you when they need a drink or a feed - you just gotta listen to them!
My man! Thank you again, I read up a good bit last night on your journal, insane training that you did bro I just readjusted a couple branches just now because I didn’t like how a couple just sat there but here she is
Thanks mate - much appreciated. I really threw myself into the deep end - I probably wouldn’t suggest starting out the same way - but it can be done.
Ok - you definitely have the idea… but (there is always a but) I would be changing that a lot.
Please don’t think I am picking on you - this is stuff I learned, and if you like how mine turned out - you will need to make some adjustments.
First a couple of questions:
Has the plant been topped?
Has it been planted in the centre of the tub? It looks very off centre but could be the angle.
Observations:
The ties you are using will easily damage (cut into) the plant. Think single core electrical wire but with a softer coating (in a roll at discount stores).
You don’t seem to have a decent anchor wire at the base - it looks like you are putting too much reliance on the roots to hold her base upright. You need a decent tension, about an inch up from the dirt. Once secure, you can put your tie near the top to start pulling her down. Directly opposite your securing one. I hope that makes sense…
My big girls were all topped first. Most important. It controls your height (in our case it is a radius) and encourages the branches to punch hard. Fanned out, they are going to cover your tub.
At the moment, you are tying down fan leaves as well. Not the objective, you want to tie branches. The leaves will look for the light source.
If the plant isn’t topped, let her loose, recover a day or two and top her. A coule more days and you can start the tie down process again.
These are just a bunch of suggestions. Please don’t think I’m trying to beat up on you.
Dude I take none of this as being picked on I’m new to all of this and I’ve been trying to find people on this forum that help out and add in a lot more informative stuff to help people. Thank you man! Yeah I definitely need to top her, I’m gonna release her tonight after work and let her chill for two days, I’ll try to find the wire you were talking about, what about construction straws ? Like the ones you’d use as a kid in school for art?
Watch over me senpai
All good mate. As I said, this is only my first run and I have so much more to learn!
Always good to leave a couple of days for recovery when you change stuff up. They respond incredibly fast.
I am not sure about the straws you are meaning… but this is the wire I am using - there are a few similar.
I have not used the grow bags before, but you will need secure tie down points around the perimeter. You could use chop sticks, knitting needles, light gauge tent pegs - maybe 8 or so around the edge (I am guessing those bags tear when you poke holes…).
Happy to help mate - and where I can’t help, there are many very skilled growers in here (that is how I know what I know )
Sorry mate, just catching up.
Ok great, so she is topped. Depending how many nodes are left on the plant, that gives you your number of main colas. Your top turns into two and everything else will fire up in a couple of days. You will start to see the 2 new growth sites below where you topped her.
You can start some basic shaping - no problem. By topping the plant, you have confused the shit out of it. When you remove the top cola, every other terminal bud site will think it is now THE top, and start to push out and up - thinking it is the cola. The idea is to keep them separate and fairly uniform from as early as you can. The two new bud sites at the top will need to grow out an inch or so before you can start to spread them (these two also seem to become the fiercest and hardest growers). I’m not sure how many nodes you now have - but that will give a good idea of just how bushy she will get - and in turn, how much you need to defoliate and spread to get a plant that really pumps buds.
Alrighty, so I used that stuff you said not to use to tie them down lol I haven’t found the other one in stores near me, did find it on amazon but when I just reordered my soil and some nutes I forgot to add it So now I’m just using these till I have to order something on amazon again lol
But they look good, I’ll grab some pictures when I head in, but this is some Texas butter, pretty solid smoke.
Welcome @detroitpwp3 I know this is your first time posting, I would encourage you to familiarize yourself with forum rules. Personal information exchange isn’t allowed. I had to edit your personal information in the above post. Try not to let it happen again.
So I got my other light finally setup today, I got it on amazon about 3-4 months ago, finally stoked to use it. The only downside of the light is that it gets pretty warm. The girls are doing good today they seemed pretty happy all day, i transplanted my last one today in her 6 gal, I used some great white for the roots and then watered a bit with it afterwards.
