Wow. Never heard of bud wash! Glad I posted this! Could you send a link for instructions? This spot was the only area- down near the bottom on a fan leaf. Kind of cool structure!

Washing is definitely the way to go. Wait until you look close at the water. Lots of foreign stuff washes out. Inside or outside.

Someone posted a picture of a seedling with a “spine” that looks like your picture.
