Hello!! I have gotten pretty far for a first timer, but now I’m in trouble! I started growing all four plants in July, they are now all flowering but two are really tall and are getting burnt by a he light
What should I do here? Should I take the two tall ones out and put them under my LED light which will switch from what I’m using now which is the Mars hydro? I don’t want to stress them out but I don’t know what to do to prevent them from burning during the 12/12. Any suggestions please I really appreciate you guys!!!
Can you bend them over and tie them down?
Gently pull and tie limbs and top down. In the future might Consider topping plants at about 6 nodes. That will slow the upward growth down and let side branches catch up and make a even canopy . Good luck ![]()
You could also super crop that main cola. It is a scary thing to super crop the first time, but it does work.
If possible to move the light up a little and put the smaller girls on something the same height as the tall one or if you can’t do that then would try and super crop the tall one like what was said
above me
Yes!!! That’s what I’ve done past week but wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do. One plant is still getting burn spots but I guess that’s a risk I have to take huh? Will it just burn the leaves or my bud too?
Also since doing this I see it grown more in exposed end so do you suggest just keep rotating it every few days so that all can get the light?
I keep hearing about super crop? I’m scared so does that mean to cut the top part off and replant it?
Yes, the buds will burn. I’d try to tie them down to where the light is around 15” from tops. They curve back up the light so tie down as much as you can risk without breaking them. I don’t think you really need to worry about rotating them. You can always tuck leaves covering bud sites, or remove a few leafs. I don’t like to remove to many leaves though.
Super cropping is were you break the highest branch to were it would be even with the height you would need not break it right off
No. Supercropping is a training technique usually done during late veg or early flower. It involves bending a stem 90 degrees. Topping is when a stem / branch is cut just above a node. They are different techniques.
You usually don’t want to supercrop after a couple weeks of flowering. But, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
I used a clip to supercrop this one.
In this example I used some soft wire to support the bend
Before bending the branch needs to be softened. Pinch and squeeze where it needs to be bent. Do this above and below the area. You should feel the branch give and become softer. When it ready bend it over and support the top part.
Before your next grow study LST and topping. Your plants will produce better overall with a flat canopy that receives an even amount of light.
This is the same plant a few days before being cut
Good explanation and solid advice.
Woww you are totally amazing I learned so much that quick and I understand yeeyyy!!! Lol thanks soo much I’m going to do the bending technique for now on this grow and definitely super crop in the future thanks!!! I also did cut the huge leaves today as well to keep from blocking light thanks for advice much
Dont let it burn. Im with @Vtbudz on evening out your canopy but bend them over or adjust the pots diagonally or something so they dont burn especially on top cola or most of the flowers on plant will taste really burnt
