First Time Grower - LED Light Question

Hi all! Just want to start off by saying that I love this forum and am learning a lot from it. I’m totally new to growing.

I plan on having 3 to 4 tents eventually. However, I have to buy a little at a time. So far, I have a CoolGrows 48" x 24" x 72" tent and a Bloom Plus BP1500.

My concern is the light that I bought. Is it the right size for the tent?

Hello and welcome to the club. I am sorry to say I do not know anything on the brand of light. A lot of people on this forum use HLG brand lights, and some use Spider Farmer lights. But it looks like it should work for you.

Hey. Welcome to the forum or i should say welcome home. Ull b here alot lol. Everyone is. From the looks that light pulls actually 95 watts. From my understanding with led lights u basically want 50 actual watts per sq foot. If u go hlg u can get away with 30 w per sq foot. The light shows it flows a 2x2. Will probably work for growing but not gonna have the best of yield or quantity most likely. @dbrn32 can help u on this one. He is the lighting expert and can get u where u need to be. Happy growing my friend

Lower end lights you can use the ‘50 watts per square foot’ metric to determine how many fixtures you need. Higher end lights you can go off of their recommendations, based on photon flux rather than electrons pulled from the wall. This normally drops power levels down around 30 watts per square foot. But it’s a poor method for setting up your space with the right PPF (photosynthetic photon flux).

Look at Horticulture Lighting Group as the recognized leader in light fixtures now. They are pricey but the saving long-term is huge.

I would expect light you posted to flower up to a 2x2 space.

Welcome to the community ! If you do end up purchasing another light for your 4 x 2 space.
The HLG 260 v2 rspec. XL. Would be a good choice of light for your space from start to finish grow. Good luck with your new venture.

Thank you for the replies. I’ll go with this one for now but will look into the HLG 260 and others for the other tents.

I can’t believe how much there is to learn! It can be a bit overwhelming. I know that I can do this though and will keep researching, reading and asking questions as I go. I’ll get there!

Thanks again.

There are definitely worse lights, but you would be in better shape with something like ts1000 and call that mid range.
