First-Time Grower...First time Show-er

First time grower and I think all is good, so far. But it’s still early (knock on wood)…

I planted four Godfather OG seeds in my starter soil and all four germinated and broke the surface of my cups within 4 days. I immediately placed them in my tent and here are the results after 9 days in the tent (as of this morning, September 3rd).

Question: is it common to have a seedling look/behave different than others of the same strain? Reason I ask, three of the seedlings look identical (for the most part) but the fourth is shorter and has a darker color to it. Additionally, the leaves seem to be slightly different than the other three plants. Just curious…but other than that, I am loving this new ‘hobby’ and look forward to learning from all of you and reading about your experiences.

Thanks!

Welcome
Yes it is common to have a seedling look/behave different than others of the same strain.
I notice water droplets on leaves, I would avoid spraying leaves.
Let your little plants have a wet/dry cycle when watering and keep it away from stem. :+1:

Welcome to the community! Yep, different strains do different things. Someneed more nitrogen, some more space, some more water, etc. You will learn to read them, and if ya have questions we are here! Plants are looking very healthy at their start, I’ll be taking a peek in every once is a while. :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:t3:

Welcome. Good start.
Forum research “dome watering” may provide interesting reading.
Seedlings and soil should not be too damp, most times.

Thanks! I haven’t watered these, I only mist (with RO pH 6-ish) the soil to keep it damp. RH is approx. 78 during light and about 55-60 during dark and it seems to be doing really well.

It sure is a fun hobby and I’m having a blast with it so far.

Thanks for the feedback and the welcome to the community!

Welcome to the neighborhood . Your ladies are looking great. Wetting the leaves with the light on could burn them. Happy growing :v:

Looking good so far. When the leave past the outside of the cup I would transplant.
Best of luck to you!

Thanks, 4204life - during afternoon turns I checked the bottom of the cups and I have roots coming out like crazy already. I wasn’t expecting that to happen for a while but it looks like its time to go into the larger pot.

My last 2 grows I had to transplant 2 to 3 weeks in. A good root ball is a good start.

Some great progress - transferred them to their larger pots and I think they’re feeling pretty happy.

Fantastic work on the transplant. Those little laddies will love it here in a week or so.

I do things alittle different in the growing community. At this stage in life and due to the transplant I would suggest trimming a few of the leaves. Just cutting the tips off. This will force alittle extra energy underground to help with root production. Many people do this while cloning but is just as effective during this first transplant stage as well.

Due to the transplant and being shocked the overall growth will be stunted for a day or two regardless.

HippieRunner1 - thanks for the feedback! I’ve done a ton of research and have never seen this technique used before. You mention it will drive a bit more energy towards root development, but it also stands to reason that it would drive energy to upward growth…? Have you seen benefits there, as well?

At a young at it will direct the energy to the roots especially during early transplants. Once the plants at about its fourth node I wouldn’t do it. I have definitely seen positive results over the years.

These clones are about to big for this technique but will show you the size I’m talking about. This is at the farm I managed.

Here are a few from my home grow. As you can see I use the same technique.

Happy farming…

Three weeks since transplant, and I am extremely happy with the results. Trying to spread their growth outwards, and keep them relatively low and even with each other. Seems like there’s benefit to exposing the interior of the plants to light, while the larger/longer branches spread outwards (3rd image)…?

Question: is there a way to change the labels on this posts? I think this is more appropriate in a grow-log category? Any Admins able to help with this switch? Thanks in advance for your help…
