those are beautiful and healthy plants. You have done remarkably well this first grow! Cannot wait to see how they turn out. Good luck!
Exactly six weeks (42 days) since they first broke the surface of the soil in their red Solo cups. Today, I did my last prune of leaves and stems under the plants to open them up as much as I could (these are bushy plants), and in five days, I’ll flip 'em to 12/12, drop the temps a bit and slowly lower my RH over the next few weeks.
A lot of work so far, but it has been worth it - looking forward to this next phase…
Onward and upward!
Good growing to you.
Lights?
Height?
DLI?
Just wondering.
Lights? Samsung Ionboard S44 4x4
Height? During veg, I’ve kept it about 2 feet @ 100%
DLI? 0.18
I have them in an organic soil (Purple Cow Organics IndiCanja) that I mixed with some additional homemade compost + mycorrhizal fungi.
Temps have been a steady 78 F during the day with an RH of about 68. At night, it’s a constant 67 F with an RH of about 57.
I top-dressed my soil once a week during veg with a light dusting of Fish Bone Meal Fertilizer, but have slowly transitioned over to Bat Guano the past 5 days in anticipation of flower.
I keep watering to a minimum (underwater), giving them a drink about every 3rd day - RO with a shot of liquid seaweed + molasses and a pH of about 6.8 - 7.0.
I know its more than what you asked for - but I figured I’d toss it all out there in case anyone else was curious about my set-up.
Thanks for sharing, how you did such good growing.
Appreciated more than you can imagine, by all.
Thanks, TransplantedFarmgirl. Its definitely turned into a labor of love, trying to insure they’re healthy, happy plants.
Hopefully it pays off in the end.
Nicely done! All happy and healthy looking, and your hedgehogs are growing so well.
Going into week 5 of flower, tomorrow. Tonight, I am adjusting my light to a 11/13 and dropping the temps in my by about 5 degrees both day/night.
So far, what I am seeing is promising in terms of yield - it looks like these ladies will be producing some nice buds (I’ve never done this before so I am simply guessing). Looking forward to the next few weeks.
Hope you cloned or seeded some.
Those are beautiful.
Dropping light hours to 11/13 may signal her end is near and change growing pattern.
Then today was Daylight Savings end, clocks fall back an hour and my tent gets an extr hour of daylight.
Reveg one or two, if space is available.
Welcome to the community. I also am ann old but new grower and the people on here are a wealth of information that has my grow looking better then I ever expected. Good luck your ladies are looking fine so far.
Ive read that with a ± 10 degree swing will bring out more colors within the plant. Im waiting to experiment with this theory when my time comes. You mentioned that your temperature differential was 5 degrees just thought I’d throw that out there…FYI type thing.
BTW… your girls are looking absolutely fabulous!!!
I did not clone - being a first time grower, my main focus was simply getting from germination to harvest without too many issue. And in the process get the temps/RH nailed down while learning about the plant and its stages.
I figure another grow or two should get me to where I can then focus on cloning (also, I should have used up my seeds by then).
Yep, you’re right - I read that a change in time (even by an hour) could potentially speed up the maturing process - which I don’t want to do yet - so I switched my time back to 12/12. I’ll probably switch it at week 7, instead.
I have not looked into re-veg’ing. What is that?
Thanks, @PhatPat - yep, the temp switch is to maybe see if I can bring out some colors. I’ve been averaging about a 10 degree swing between light/dark (78/68) but this change should drop my conditions to about 73/63 for next few weeks. Not sure if that is enough to get some of the colors to pop…but we’ll see how it goes.
I have zero clue as to what temps will actually make something occur so its simply experimenting.
Would love to hear the outcome so please tag me once you test it out. Thx
Hey Mucluc - thanks! I was lurker in here for a few months before I even started my grow. I did a lot of research into the process and these boards were a large part of data-gathering. Nothing beats the experience of people that have been doing this for a while - I haven’t seen an issue that someone has posted go unanswered, thanks to the combined knowledge of the folks on this support forum.
These folks really know their stuff and are willing to help - and that’s what makes this ‘hobby’ really great: the community of people that it’s made of.
Reveg is when at harvest time you leave buds and leaves on your plant (about 15%) usually the lower buds on your plant, and put it back into 18/6 light again and get it to go back into vegetative state. I have done this on a few occasions to keep a really good bagseed or phenotype going. It works well for creating a mother plant for clones, it is a guaranteed female and known genetics and effects.
Welcome, and happy growing. Looks like you got a good start. Every plant will grow differently. Even same strains. Its a great hobby and very relaxing, to me anyway. Enjoy your journey.
