First time grow attempt

Good morning everyone. This is my first time growing anything so I’m looking to see if I am on the right track.

Using ILGM auto Northern Lights, Fox Farm Ocean and Mars Hydro TS1000 150W.
I am 11 days in since germinating the seed in a shot glass.
Currently I have the TS100 at 25% for 18 hours, par reading 160, 70% humidity at 74F.

Is this little lady looking ok so far?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the group neighbor. She’s stretched a bit but ok more light will help (closer or stronger). Let it dry out. Them peat pucks are wetter than they look

Looking good Growmie. I would have recommended not using peat plugs as they have a tendency to root bound. She’s stretching a little and would set the lighting PPFD to around 250ish :love_you_gesture:

Welcome to the community.

Look forward to watching your ladies grow.

I agree with the above recommendations. And those peat pods are definitely not good for cannabis seedlings.

WOW! Thank you all for the speedy replies (I was not expecting that :). I will turn up the lighting to 250 par.

Got it. No peat pod on the next grow. I don’t want to disturb the plant too much but is there something I should do about the current pellet or just leave it be?

Thank you again to everyone. I look forward to absorbing everyone’s knowledge.

Is this an auto or photo period plant? It doesn’t look to be buried deep and if a photo period and a transplant is planned the peat pod can be cut in Various locations. You may get lucky and the roots penetrate the pod but often tiny feeder roots will grow in a circle inside the pod stunting the growth….I learned this in my first few grows. I start seedlings in solo cups now and transplant after 14 days or so above ground :love_you_gesture:

You could just dive a steak knife down the sides in 3-4 vertical cuts if it’s an auto and you don’t want to up root it. Cut enough to perforate the outer peat bag.

A photo won’t care at all if you pull it up.

Good morning all. Based on your recommendations I was able to cut most of the peat pellet shell off without disturbing the plant.

I also turned up the lighting to around 250 par by dropping the height down to 18 inches. After a few hours I noticed the two leaves start to curve down a bit. When the light went off for the day, the leaves went back to straight or level. Some Googleing said it could possible be too much light. What do you guys think?

Sorry about all the questions but I have one more. Are they any benefits or drawbacks if the par is 250 at 18 inches or 250 at 20 inches by adjusting the dimmer intensity?

Thanks everyone and happy Friday

Good morning! Its nice to have that option. If turned up/farther gives less leaf burn than turned down/closer thats benefit. A drawback would be if the PPFD drops out near the sides, it might drop a lot compared to the center with light higher. So use the meter and measuer from center out to the sides and get the best average.

I see that will matter more when your plant is wider… I guess not an issue yet.

If ya start curling raise your light just a few inches… let her get used to it and then drop another inch sorta coaxing her into wanting more light

I think I’ll let the plant speak to me lol and find the correct balance.

I was going by this graphic from Mars Hydro:

Make sure to “snip the side” (cut pod) so roots can escape and spread out.

Good morning all,

Does anyone have experience growing the Northern Lights autos from ILGM? I have had my light set at 250 par since seedling (today is day 35, 39 from seed). She looked happy and perky.

Saturday I raised up the light height and increased to 325 Par. She looked sad and droopy while the light is on. Yesterday I turned the light back down to 250 and she is not saggy LOL. No signs or burn and still putting off new growth. Maybe I’m overprotective but is this normal?

She is not over or under watered. Temp has been steady 75 to 78 and humidity around 65%. I haven’t given any fertilizer except compost tea and seaweed extract.

Am I paranoid or just need to find the light sweet spot.

Thanks in advance.
