Seedlings a week old

These girls are 8 days above soil. Using Fox Farm Ocean. Light height 21" @ 20% intensity. They started thier life 3 in peat pellets and 3 in root plugs, ( testing out different vessels as a learning experience) then transferred to these small 6" clear pots. Eventually i’ll put them in 5 gallon cloth buckets as their final resting place. Should i keep them at low intensity light for now till they aquire proper root development. I feel like they to short. I been watering about every third day around the sides, slight run off of 5% or less. Trying not to over water them. This is my first grow so i’m treading extra lightly. Please I can use some advice and guidence. Thanks in advance!! Happy Growing!!

I exaggerated maybe to 1%, its my way of not overwatering or underwatering. Just to the point of a slight drip i would say.

Plants look good the translucent container is a problem put them in a container that doesn’t let the roots exposed to light but other than that your doing great

@DEEPDIVERDAVE do you think watering every third day or so isn’t the best method for seedling that haven’t rooted well yet? Should i just mist the soil and saturated the pot to about 80% or less? What works best for them?

Thanks man! I never heard that. I actually heard that its a good way to monitor the roots. But ok great, good to know!! But know that i remember correctly they had it in two cups. One was clear inside of a red solo cup. Darn i missed that? When you get a chance how is the best way to correct that at this point? What would you suggest? I didn’t want to transfer them right away until they develop their roots better.

Spray paint, BLACK, will make container block light for seedling.
ALTERNATIVE, wrap a cover around seedling container. Silver reflector insulating bubble wrap used regularily around here. and DUCT TAPE.

Side wrap and top cover (experimenting, as usual).

Usually put a clear container inside a solid container that way you lift it out and check the root development

Get the photone app and check your dli they look a little light hungry you want a dli of 15-20 1 week in

How does that work? Can you please explain. I have the app but i’m not really sure of all the specs. When i open to dli it marks 6.5 as we speak after moving them around and not putting them in there best positions possible according to the photon app umols i usually make sure it is between 80-160 umols. I hope im using it correctly. And since i moved them out of place they are marking 100umols. If that makes sense. I have to adjust the height to raise it to 160 umols. Please advise! Really new to all this, i’m learning as we speak.

Switch from par/umol to dli with hours for a more accurate calculation

I found this reflective tape and thought of trying it out. Not sure if this actually helps or hurts them. It suppose to push light away if im not mistaken. Or is it actually increasing the amount of light it gets!?

Yes and when i scan it reads 6.5 not 15 or 20. So im suppose to go all the way up between 15 and 20?? I want to be sure i am understanding correctly?

Yuppers it seems like a lot but theyll adjust fast and love you for it( theyll shy away for the first day but move back soon)

And thats a clever fix that works

Thanks man! The main reason the light wasn’t as high a gentleman here suggested it until they streched out some in search of light.
