First Post. Looking to All The Equipment for Indoor Grow

Got my seeds and looking to get all my equipment to grow only two plants in a grow tent. I don’t really have any local and I want to be discreet anyway. Amazon has grow kits that have all the equipment you need but I’m sure there are good and bad in the kit. I’ve read and read and it is overwhelming information overload trying to piece together everything I need! So hoping to get some great advice on all the equipment needed to grow a couple of plants for personal use! Thank you in advance for any help!

I don’t go fancy. Get a couple of 5-gallon buckets from a hardware store. Amazon has lighting and I’m sure someone will weigh in, but I’ve grown a bit and will attest that for veg there’s not much better than a 5500k LED high bay light. It puts out a tremendous amount of light in the spectrum that is great for veg and you can get one for only $99. I assure you that you will continue to use it to supplement whatever your final lighting solution happens to be. It will give you time to study full spectrum lights and make a good decision.

Kits seem to be overpriced, imo. Since you’re only going 2 plants you can probably get away with a 4" carbon scrubber. I’m partial to the AC Infinity fan products. Pair it with a quality carbon filter and your ready to go on air movement. Don’t forget that you’ll want a supplemental fan to keep air moving in the grow space to ensure a steady flow of fresh air and to ensure nice, thick stalks on your plants.

I use a closet and have avoided buying a tent. If you are shopping for tents, please keep in mind that a 2’x2’ tent isn’t really enough for 2 plants, though you can probably get away with a 2’x4’. A bit larger (such as a 3’x4’) is even better and will give you a bit of room to work if you intend to SOG or SCROG. Even a 3’x4’ will be slightly cramped, though adequate.

Good soil is most important. You can read some of the threads on soil and nutes to educate yourself there.

Really though. I’d stay away from a kit. You’ll save yourself a bit of money and get exactly what you are looking for that way.

What light do you specifically use?

Welcome, and congrats on your decision to DIY!
The Lights are your biggest investment, if you funds are not a problem , you may want to build a good light …But… do your research on the prefab ones and you can get a great deal for a good …ved/flower light! Take a look at my First indoor grow Juornal “First Time Scrogging” my lights were the 2 of the Hydro crunch 300watt/ true wattage around 160/180 it says 90veg/ 120 flower? And added a 1200watt Kind Plus true wattage around 180…so I have around 420w I. My 3x3x60 got them all on sale at discount for around 300 total but I spread it out over a year…and if you look at my journal you’ll see the happy result! @dbrn32us the lighting guy here and I’m sure he’ll pop in and give you all you need to make a informed decision. Let's talk DIY lights not sure if the link posted but he had a thread in DIY Lighting!! Good luck!

Spend the money on a good light and good instruments for measuring water PH and TDS. If you have those items you can grow anything.

Hopefully @dbrn32 will chime in soon and can recommend me a couple of great grow lights that I can buy. I would prefer buying one versus building one. Thank you all for chiming in so far! I appreciate it.

What size tent are you looking to light?
What’s your budget?

I got about 500 dollars for my setup the first time that is with lights fans and fabric pots tent and nutrients and soil for a 4x4x6 grow tent and that is everything now using some different nutrients and techniques and saving money
I don’t care what the circumstances are don’t be cheap on lights and a ph meter this alone will keep a ton of problems from even happening also get calibration solutions for your ph meter and check it often

I would be happy to point you in direction for lights. Did you decide on what size grow you’re going with?

I just want to grow a couple of plants at a time. Would a 2x2 or 3x3 tent best best. I started with auto flower before I jump to fem seeds.

I don’t have a budget. I’d prefer to buy quality and not skimp on price.

Get the largest tent you can fit in your space. If nothing else; additional space will help with plants not touching tent walls (always a problem).

I would look at a Quantum Board myself. 3,000K. Horticulture Lighting Group.

3x3 is probably big enough, its pretty versatile space in my opinion. If you went with that a qb 260 xw kit is nice, growerslights can assemble and test for a few bucks if you don’t want to build.

Thank you!

The Rspec for all lifecycle phases? I was looking at the 288 V2 Rspec at Growerslights but I’m not smart enough on lights to know what I’m looking at.
