First Post, First Grow

Hey, everyone! First time posting here, and first time grow. I am running all ILGM seeds, so I wanted to put the thread here. I picked Wedding Cake Auto, and the CBD Auto bundle (White Widow, Critical Mass, Kuah all crossed by CBD) for this run to fill the stash up quicker. I planted 1 of each and all but the Critical Mass popped right up and went to work. Tried another seed after 10 days of no pop and waited. 12 days later no pop, so I just took it out of the tent not wanting one plant to be more than two weeks behind. We’re a little over 5 weeks from seed. Planted December 8th, popped Dec 11 and 12. I’m in a 4x4 AC Infinity starter bundle, came with the tent, light, exhaust and circulating fans, and all the rest to get started except the dirt. I had to throw the soil together last minute, so I’m using equal parts cow manure and compost mix, peat moss, and lava rock. Top dressed last weekend with pure earthworm castings, happy frog dry amendment, and another that I can’t remember right now. I extracted calcium from egg shells into a mixture to feed via spray, as they were (and are, but it’s significantly decreased since I watered with the Cal mix, then top dressed them) showing calcium deficiency. These pics are from today, and they’re all looking really good! I did a small defoliation and LSTd them when I top dressed and watered them this weekend. Side branches have started coming up into tops and I’m starting to tuck leaves and such to try to even the canopy out. The main stalks are proving difficult to push any harder on the bending. I think we’re about to hit stretch and I’m hoping to get a decent little haul off this run. Fill up the coffers before I get the 4x8 up and running.

Anywho, thanks for reading and let me know what you think!

For sure, I’ll let you know how they come out. I REALLY like the hybrid cbd/thc strains. Had some Jedi Kush out in CO on a visit to a friend years ago and have been looking for something comparable ever since. Now I get to grow my own

Will do and thank you!

Thanks! I spent over a decade following growers and researching before I finally got a state that legalized. Once these girls are done, I can’t wait to run some photoperiods. I like tinkering

First Grow huh???
Well DAMN bro, you got this bull by the horns. Looking really good so far. Are you generally good with living things or did you do alot of research prior to picking up the best hobby in the world??

Haha!!! Missed the one sentence

Yeah, I’ve spent prolly a couple thousand hours watching growers and all sorts of shit. Before LEDs completely took over, I used to design my own lights and spectrums for fun, hoping to use them down the road. I designed my own completely self-contained environmental boxes but never pulled the trigger to get them made, and now Abbie is selling theirs for $1k lol. But, I’m kinda thinking bud porn shots might be as far as I go for funsies. The premade lights are pretty bomb these days and I don’t think the need exists to create my own anymore. My entire prerogative is to grow the finest weed in the South Farthing and give it to my friends and family. Maybe our chiropractor will give me the chance to make CBD extracts and such for them. Who knows haha. Just happy to have people who love this and want to learn stuff and help me learn stuff too! Thanks for the kind words!

P.S. - yeah, I’m generally decent with living things. I trained my parents tomato plants some years ago when I was living at home and they were ENORMOUS. My parents were in awe that you could get that many tomatoes on one plant lol. Turns out, tomatoes and pot plants grow VERY similarly. I do a garden and am looking to put in an indoor garden with my tents downstairs and turn the room into an air purifier for the rest of the house.

Funny…A buddy of mine that doesn’t grow pot but does grow maters asked me when showing him pics of my girls and explaing the need to remove lower growth that will not amount to anything so the upper growth will be more bountiful. He said you think it would work for maters. Sure I says try it. Anyhoo he came back to work after clipping off lower growth and he said it doubled in size 2 weeks later. so now he is sold on Lollipopping. Wish I had a before and after pic of the tomato plant.
Cheers!!

Yessir, now get him to put cages on it and LST it. They respond VERY well to training in my experience. Even split the stalk on one and it just pushed on through. Think my parents had like 6-8 plants and by the end they only needed 1-2 for a full harvest. Hope he shares some of those fruits with ya  cheers!

Figured I’d throw this in here. I’ve heard that you actually can clone autos, so when I chopped a lower branch the other day, I put a drop of honey on this little chickadee and stuffed her in a peat pellet. We’ll see how it goes!

Hey, everyone!

Moving forward, I’ve decided that, until watering becomes a daily chore, I’ll just be posting updates on watering days (right now, 4-6 days in between; Should be shortening that timeframe soon). I have a bit of a framework that I put together for it, so I can stay organized and not spend more than a few hours a week on blogging. So, I’ll issue a forward statement on Watering Days, discussing something general on the topic, and just saying hi to everyone. I may also include in that any answers to questions that come up in the thread. Following that, I’ll have three independent posts, one for each plant. Pics and all the fun stuff, and a bit on how she’s doing and what she’s doing. Afterward, I’ll have closing thoughts for the round. I welcome any input, and feedback on posts, length of posts, etc. Thanks, everyone, and with that, let’s kick it off!

Water update!

Watered this morning around 7am. Just straight water from my tap (we have a whole home purifier, so it has some calcium in it, but not much). Leaves were just starting to sag from being thirsty. I like to let em go an extra night or day cycle when they get thirsty. Make em go looking for water.

First up, we have the White Widow!

She’s starting to stretch. I want to bring her top down, but I’m not sure how to get it down, as the curve is resistant to change now. If the bottoms come up more, it’ll be a good one. Barely starting to show tip burn. Calcium deficiency has cleared up nicely, just slight shades of yellow on all but the bottom branches which are still moderately yellowed. Overall really healthy and up praying! Started sniffing on the Kush, so I didn’t get her, but I will next update!

Next is the Kush Bush!

I LOVE the color of this plant! That bluish tint is wonderful. Big, fat leaves. At first I thought it was a runt because it was much smaller than the other two. Then I thought about it being a straight Kush plant. Ever since I realized it was supposed to be small, I’ve actually been really impressed. It started out WONKY. Leaves all twisted up, didn’t throw 5’s for a while (finally getting 9’s now), just goofy looking. Now it’s beautiful. Stalk is almost entirely green, leaves are just stellar in person, tbh, only the slightest bit of tip burn. Smells like old school stinky skunk weed by the stalk rub. Phenomenal. I’m more excited about this one than I thought I’d be!

My main lady, Wedding Cake -

This is what I’m talking about right here. Color is phenomenal on the newer growth, the older still has some yellow. The LSTing went over better than the other two, imo. The legs on her are crazy! Bottom shoots came right up to the top after my first LST. She actually has a pretty level head, and I’m very much looking forward to her putting on some weight. She’s my only all-THC strain, so I’m hoping she turns out well, or I’m up a creek on high THC levels! Her calcium deficiency is the worst of the group, but it’s still not overly concerning at this point. She’s up praying most of the time, though after the top dress, her tips turned down a bit. I assume she’s got a bit too much nitrogen, but, again, nothing to really worry about. Forgot to sniff her, but I’ll get her next time!
