First grow, yes im that guy sorry

Day 62 of the grow. This guy is, or is getting close to harvest time. Would you call these trichomes milky or clear? Between first time grower, bad eye sight and just not that knowledgable about weed (only been using for less than a year and only messed with 2.5 ounces), i really dont know. Im sure with getting the first grow under my belt ill be able to determine this myself. But for the first time id appreciate the help.

So is this plant milky or clear. I know there is a mixture of the types at any given time. But if these were your plants how long would you think is left.

Grow info:
White widdow auto
grown in miracle grow potting soil (hey i said its my first grow be nice hahahaha)
Ac infinity 4x4 grow tent kit 400w light
Average temp has been 80f
Average humidity 72%
No added nutrients but the miracle grow soil
Flower started aprox. July 12

Any other info you need, just let me know and ill try to answer.

Harvest time when growing your own depends on what type of buzz your lookin for… an energetic buzz = 80 -100% milky/cloudy … couch lock =100% milky with lots of amber

Thanks for the response i appreciate it. Im looking more for medicinal.

I understand the difference in the effects depend on the stage at which they are harvested. But being a first time grower and very little bud in hand experience, The main question i have is what stage am i at? Looking at the picture what would you say the percentage of clear vs milky. Ive looked at pictures and tried to gauge my plants, but i just have a hard time judging clear vs milky. They all look “clear” to me unless i can clearly see amber color which they are VERY few of em. I think over the plant i saw 4 or 5 amber ones.

Just my opinion but I’d say you’re in the window but give her another week or 2 for full effects

Ill give her a week more then. Thanks. Now i can use this as my reference. So hard for me to compare without personal experience. LOVE THE FORUMS!

You know most of the time it depends on what strain you’re growing some have prolonged flowering periods and also what size pot you’re growing in… but mist flowering times are within 8-12 weeks to fully flower and mature… you know the more i look at her the more time i think she has left… i want your opinion on this plant and how much longer you think she has left…

Looks good! Here is a chart to help you with your decision.

In the end you are the person who is there with your plant. A tip in regards to harvest: the red hairs all over on your bud will lay down and recede on the surface of the bud instead of standing at attn.

Im a firm believer that all marijuana is medicinal

You are @ the begining of ripening phase. The buds will swell considerably in the last couple weeks. Big weight and big taste happening at this time.

A) when the trichomes are clear they have an almost crystal on the light appearance, a shimmer, if you will. You want them to loose that shimmer, they will look more like the opaque bottom to this banger at full maturity.

B) Be sure that when checking the trichomes for doneness that you are looking about 1/3 of the way down the plant and 1/3 of the way down the bud you are scoping. They will mature from the top down. Also, and this is most crucial, you want to be looking at the bud itself and not the sugar leaves sticking out of it. The sugar leaf trichomes will mature MUCH faster then the ones on the buds.

You are very close to the end a week maybe two, by my eyes.
Since that is the case, lets talk about harvest.
First things first, I recommend a bud wash. I do a 3 stage wash, 1 bucket with lemon juice and baking soda, a 2nd with hydrogen peroxide/water solution, and 3rd a pure RO or distilled water rinse. You would be amazed at how actually dirty and dusty your buds are. There is plenty of info on youtube and here on the boards about the bennifit of a bud wash.
Have you given thought to how you wish to go about drying your plant? Here is part 1 of a 3 part video series that I follow explicitly and have had great success.

Plant looks amazing!

Step 1 is growing, congratulations, you made the goal.
Step 2 is harvest, your needs should dictate if you are in control
Step 3 DRY Whats your plan
Step 4 CURE ?
Step 5 Smoke and tell us.

I would expect about 3 more weeks.

I have heard it described as like glass when too clear and like plastic when cloudy enough.

Also, I don’t even look at trichomes until most/all the pistils have shriveled and turned brown/orange.

Watching! I started my first plant here and got nothing but support! Can’t really add anything that hasn’t been stated already. Your girl is looking great too!

I have a wine fridge that i converted to a dry curing chamber for salami, so its going to do double duty seeing ita not currently in use. I have temp and humidity control, along with inkbird controllers for it all. So i should be able to set a 60°f degree temp and hold it withing half a degree and 50% humidity and hold it to within 2-3%.

Cure will be in mason jars with the 62%rh packs and hygrometer that will be here next week.

Didnt plan on washing as im growing indoors. But could be convinced otherwise.

Effect im looking for is as little affect on me mentally but yet still get the benefits for pain control and anti-inflamatory. ONLY reason i do this is due to severe arthritis and inability to agford the medications at $16,000 a month and and i cant stand the nausea from the chemo drugs they want me on.

I will make coconut oil to make gummies as i dont like smoking. Have a ongrok system coming next week. Ive made gummies before with bud given to me.

Coonass, to me those plants have a ways to go (maybe a month?). I dont see many trichomes at all. But seeing about half the pistols are red id assume they are there.

Here is a picture of the whole plant/tent. 3 girls (lost one to bad genetics) lollipopped and lst for a bit. Starting to see either a nutrient deficiency or nitrogen burn due to the miracle geow soil. But not too bad i think. Especially seeing i suck at growing!!!

Miracle Gro is problematic due to it’s low PH and the fertilizer crystals added to the media. I would suggest doing a thorough flush of the medium about now to help remove harsh salts (which will affect smoking) but not sure you can get all of the fertilizer out of the medium.

A lot of us are using “Grove Bags” to cure in: they don’t need burping or close monitoring. Once you are happy with the cure you can go into Mason jars at that point. The Grove bags are reusable too. They are designed to maintain the correct RH in the flower.

I would say, based on the pictures that you have a couple of weeks to go.

Shoot for a 10-14 day dry at 65% rh.

Dont ad the humidity pack until after the sweat. (A week or two of curing.)

a link to my last harvest photos, I took pics of my wash buckets, I too grow indoors.

A couple videos discussing/ demonstrating budwash

I would still wash. I grow indoors and the water is always dirty after washing, lots of hair and other particles.
