Howdy y’all. First grow second plant seems to be ready, or close? what do you think? its been a interesting last few weeks as i figured out that i was super over feeding my plant by using the directions on the bottles of Canna Coco A & B. Now i have the meters and have a much better idea for next time. So the tops of these got burnt to a crisp.
Anyways here’s some pics from my microscope let me know what y’all think It would appear to me that these are pretty much all cloudy with the starts of amber? Thanks for the advice!
How many weeks has the plant been flowering? How about pics of the full plant?
yeah sorry about the lack of info. Its Northern Lights XXL autoflower. I am starting week 10 of flower tomorrow.
that last pic is before i trimmed all the dead burnt leaves…
Nice looking plant. I expect you are ready if the trichomes are to your taste.
What kind of microscope and camera did you use to photograph the trichomes?
USB microscope x1500 on a stand, IMO.

You’re in the harvest window… now up to you how much amber you want.
I’d say you have approached harvest window. If you want a nice day time heady high, chop away. I’d personally wait about a week, maybe, until some more amber popped in. Nice plant!
I agree with him give it another week to 10 days and get a couple few Amber up in there!
Looks awesome but needs another week.
I agree, Id wait a week at least and reevaluate. Do you have pictures of the plant/buds from a little bit closer. You might be in the harvest window but there’s still a lot of clear trichomes and almost no amber. Also you want to focus deeper into the bud to get pictures of the trichomes on the calyx’s. The trichomes on the sugar leaves can be deceiving. They can start showing some amber way before the plant is done.
Agree.
Clear trichomes are shiny unless viewed closely.
They can show “stringers” or colored heads.
Truel amazing, they can be.
I love bud porn, now
Second grow? Dam whats your secret?
I agree. My circle likes amber for our meds and oils. A little maybe 10% or so. But it is pretty sedative. Right there is where I pull our fun weed. Head high vs locky. Typically sativas. That NL is great stuff either way.
10% amber usually means there’s at least 10% clear but usually more than that. 10% clear, not good, more than that even worse.
lol. I got a good seed would be my guess. I have been reading a ton and still had many mess ups along the way. I waaaay overfed them using the guide on the back of the CanaCoco A&B nutes. Now i know to measure and use runoff and all that jazz. This is so much more sciencey than I expected. Going into this i thought the tent was just to stabilize the environment and there’s so much more to it. Also forked over some dough for a good humidifier and heater. Then i had to get a distillation machine because the tap water was putting white powder over everything.
So to really answer your question, Luck, research and spending money on tools that help you in that order.
like deepdiverdave said, its an amazon special Bluetooth microscope. Was pretty cheap. I started with a jewelers loop and when i realized i needed help here i got the scope. Super worth it IMO.
Being super new at this I made the decision to wait a week. I did take the time this weekend to essentially trim off all the leaves like I was harvesting. What do y’all think about this was this a good idea or not? so now for this week i will flush with PH’d water, I read somewhere that you can put the plant in the dark for like 3 days before the chop. I dont understand what that does i need to read more about it. Anyways plan on using my tent for a slow dry and then into grove bags for the cure.
Thanks for all the helpful input, i love how nice everyone is here. Here’s to green thumbs for all!
Before I harvest I definitely flush then darkness for at least 48 hours. I only do what the pros tell me to do I’ve had a problem with the way they’ve been teaching me. This place is awesome.
Longer, if, possible.
Dark and flush, not me.
Trim fan leaves, OK, but I wait until after washing.
Most importantly, what’s your plan for harvest/hang/dry/cure?
Storage?
