Evaluating trichromes guidance

I am practicing with the jewelers loupe I bought, holding it an IPhone a bit tricky.

Plant is WWAF ILGM, 90 days from seed, I am inexperienced so I’m not 100% sure flowering weeks but estimate between 4-5 weeks.

Buds are dense to the touch and flowers are dying back, pistils were FLUSH and abundant yellow 4-5 days ago, now withering and starting to turn brown in places.

Here are the trichromes - I think they are clear?

Any assistance would be helpful - I know from reading here that I should be looking for about 30% amber but I’m just unsure of what I’m looking at.

Thank you, friends and happy growing!

PS I should also say I’m looking for a moderate high, not too much couch lock but not too much energy either (I tend to get anxious, could you tell? Lol)

@Coltfire do you mean to say that you tie the loupe on? Having a hard time visualizing, thanks for the tip!

You want the trics to be milky an little amber. More amber is more couch lock, cloudy is more upbeat high. Hope that helps :+1::+1:

My WW fem are on about the same indoor grow schedule as your …have the trichrome questions. My trichromes are starting to show amber color which I read are a gauge to determining harvest time. aka when trichr

omes are amber harvest! Any feed back would be appreciated…

I see amber, what do the trichomes look like on the buds?

Good question kabongster…I’ve only been looking at leaves…duh Here are the bud pics from the same WW fem plant above

blurry, but no amber colors popping out…lots of cloudy

Thx for the feedback…Think I’m going to make my first harvest decision…this girl is going dark for a couple of days and then down she comes…

When asked if you should harvest, the most common answer is to wait another week, or weeks.

It’s not clear how mature your plant is, we both see amber on the leaves…do what’s comfortable for you at this point, and enjoy!

If you are having problems getting a good image don’t be afraid to take a small sample and place it on a stable surface to examine closely. I struggled with that until I just said screw it and scissored a piece of powdered sugar leaf off.

I was just looking over the plants tonight and I think it’s maybe two weeks maybe more, not sure, but they don’t look ripe yet but starting to ripen.

I took a few fan leaves here and there where they don’t look like they are needed, the plants are slowing down, some lighter green and some slight yellowing like fall.

Def gonna keep practicing with the loupe.

I looked at your photos @Sl1, it’s too hard to determine.

No worries buddy. I will take @Myfriendis410 advice so I can see and take pics more accurately. :slightly_smiling_face:

Your pistils still look young… I’d give her at least 2 to 3 more weeks…

I felt really bad scissoring off those samples, even though it was a negligible amount. For me though it was so much easier to see the progress. Plus, you really only need to do it late in the game and probably no more often than every 5 days or so.
