Hello,
What is more important when determining harvest time? No more white pistils or 20-30% amber trichromes? I have 3 photoperiod Skunk Hero RBX1 plants. One plant’s pistils are all orange, the other two have 20% white hairs still. All three have around 20% amber trichromes. Ethos says 8-9 week flower and I am midway through week 7. They all seem to be milky and haven’t found any clear trichromes. I am new and appreciate all the advice. I have a jewelers loop and I’m having trouble taking decent pics. Does anyone have a rec for a good lense for my iPhone 13 too?
trichomes rule. But from your pics seems you have a week left without out harm. Hard to see the amber
Agreed and I think you got some buds cloudy and some with clear. And nice and frost good growing
If you wanna really get up close and personal, get cha a wireless microscope on Amazon for about 30 bucks…
Trichomes 100%. Some plants never stop shooting white pistils it seems.
I’d let those milk up for a couple weeks personally…
Flowers look great! I’m in agreement with everyone else. Trichomes rule, but don’t count the ones on the leaves. They will always mature faster than the ones on the parts of the bud where the pistils come out or the calyx heads. Those are the ones you look at. Amber on the leaves doesn’t tell how ripe the flower is.
I’m currently preparing for harvest of a Grape Diamonds R2 by Ethos and this is how the mid plant buds look.
Get you one of these type microscopes. You can put it on a tripod or mic stand and get steady closeups.
I do see a few amber trichs on some of the sugar leaves. The trichs on the sugar leaves are the first to appear, so they are also the first to ripen. We want to judge by the the trichs on the calyx itself. That’s mostly what you will be consuming so that the gauge to use.
I agree with the wait could be 1-3 weeks. Don’t get impatient you will regret it.
You want nearly all those white hairs to turn brown and recede back into the calyx’s then start checking trichomes for cloudy to amber depending on preference. Focus microscope deep into a bud then check trichomes on the calyx’s not the sugar leaves. Sometimes trichomes on sugar leaves can go amber way before the plant is actually ready.
Thank you, everyone! I appreciate all the tips and advice. I have one of the microscopes on the way and will look out for amber trichromes on the actual bud and not the sugar leaves.
