Dragsterdad rookie outdoor grow

Nice corvette. :+1:

Thanks @Oldguy.
The vette is my baby. Waited a long time to get one and got a super deal on this one because it needed a fair amount of mechanical work. Which is what I do. So luckily for me it’s worth more than I have in it.
And my wife really likes it also.
Hope y’all stay safe during Dorian

Seem to have acquired a spider mite issue outdoors and indoors. I probably took them inside with me. They got a 50/50 peroxide bath Sunday. Didn’t slow them down much if any. Tonight got a Captain Jacks bath. Will take a look :eyes: tomorrow. Hope to see fewer.
Leaves changed in just a couple days.
More to come

Well the Captain Jacks seemed to work. All I see are DEAD MITES.
All the leaves are dry and crispy feeling so they were due for a feed so hope that helps.
Also put some D earth on the media in the pots.
Have some more stuff coming so I feel like I can whip these little mofos

Ok. On a plant inspection today. The only spider mites I see are dead. Going to treat the media with mosquito bits to kill any larvae.
BUT I FOUND THESE
Are these aphids??
Problem I have right now is that after spraying peroxide and then 2 days later spraying Captain Jacks dead bug the leaves on my ladies are dry and crispy not soft and pliable like normal. So I’m afraid to spray anything else on the plant right now.
And a egg farm on one leaf. Wonder what’s in those???
Any help or advice would be welcome

Bugs are aphids, not sure those are aphid eggs though.

@dragsterdad. There is another thread with something similar to the eggs.it was suggested/ determined that they were a type of moth.
@growtus had the issue I believe. :v:

Let the Captain Jack’s work. If you spray peroxide now you will be killing the spinosad bacteria before they can work. You could spray more Captain Jack’s as there is nothing in it to react with your leaves. Next application reduce your peroxide ratio as the plant is sensitive to it.

Dilute Isopropyl alcohol will kill them but alcohol melts THC.

@Oldguy. I saw that post the other day but can’t find it. I put the leaf with the eggs on it in a sealed jar to se if/ what comes out

@Myfriendis410. The peroxide I mixed 50/50 with ph water. It didn’t seem to do much to the mites in 2 days The Capt Jacks put the hurtin on them. All I saw today were mite carcasses… That’s when I saw the aphids.
The leaves are really dried out so didn’t want to do another application right away.
Soooo. I put some Mosquito Bits on the media and watered it in to hopefully kill any larvae. I was kinda surprised to see the aphids one day after spraying Capt Jacks
I went ahead and fluffed some DE on the leaves to see if that will get them
Thanks

@growtus. Thanks for sharing that. I’ll see if they hatch in the jar.
I spent a lot of time tonight inspecting my outdoor plants and that’s the only egg cluster I saw. And that’s when I found them damn aphids
Both grows were going so good I should have expected this :thinking:
Thanks

That’s because it takes up to 5 days to work. Ya gotta give it a chance. Then reapply. Peroxide will neutralize the Captain Jack’s so you might want to just alternate between Safer and Captain Jack’s. One or the other will kill those buggers. I use both and alternate but I don’t have anything on mine this run (I’ve been very conscientious about my spraying lol).

I am trying to be patient. But I want them gone NOW. and I want to harvest NOW.
If nothing else learning to grow these ladies has slowed me down a bit. I can wait. Bugs will be gone soon.
Unfortunately the mites got to my indoor grow so I have done the same with them but checking tonight I only see dead mites. And no aphids or anything else so yes I know the Captain Jacks works.
Thanks.

Oh and I have changed the protocol to enter grow room. To hopefully keep what’s outdoor out of there

Should I be doing a maintenance spray every so often ???
Obviously I will be inspecting them more often and thoroughly

Get some Safer and alternate every 5 days. The two different bacteria are pretty effective when used like that.

Hey there @dragsterdad

I found some eggs, and some sort of bug in the middle, on the underside of a leaf of one of my ladies a few days ago that look very similar to what you have going on…

Looks very similar.
Did you look at these spots magnified. Could be mites or hopefully just dirt.

Here’s a trick: click on his picture. Then, click on it again. If you put up a single high rez picture in a post that function is available.

It’s just debris.

Next grow switch to a soilless medium. I had aphids a couple years ago and switched to coco coir and haven’t had a problem with bugs since. Pro-mix is soilless as well but I haven’t used it so can’t say whether or not bug like it
