Glad you found the moment to chop proper. I also flip with full stems the first 3/4 days… I had to postpone the chop event by 5 more days… Tomorrow I’m going for it. Mine have certainly ambered up more since last week.
I’ll let y’all know how many puffs it takes before lock down
So what is everyone’s minimum curing time ??
Anything past 7-10 days for me… If i can keep them in the 60% range, and get out towards 10-14 days, then the aromas are outstanding.
The shorter 5 day dries happen to me when the temp peaks 70 and humidity dips 50ish… I’ll have buds with crunchy outer structures… Easily recovered with a paper sweat bag… but the aromas get hurt…push for 7-10 the best of your abilities, and you will have bag appeal like none other
That’s what I’m aiming for drying is 7-10 days. But after that how long do you cure in jars before smoking ??
Minimum 2 weeks, the longer you can go the better. I’d look into Grove Bags and a moisture meter instead of jars, especially if this is your first harvest, takes out a lot of the guess work. Here’s a thread about Grove Bags with lots of positive posts from members here if you’re interested:
What is the difference between them ?
Jars need to be burped, Grove Bags don’t. They have this technology called TerpLoc in them where the bags retain the ideal humidity themselves as long as you put them in at the correct range. It’s a set it and forget it kind of thing rather than having to burp daily (and members in that thread I linked above state they get better trichome preservation from the bags too).
Use the moisture meter while your buds are drying to get the perfect dry, they say between 10-12% on the wood setting on the moisture meter is what you’re aiming for, with 11% being the sweet spot. From there just sweat them a bit in a paper bag, and throw them in the Grove Bags with a mini hygrometer with them to see that humidity stays in the desired 62% range. Come back after 2 weeks and smoke those buds
Here’s the link on how to sweat the buds:
I know it’s a long thread with 2000 posts, but you could get a real good understanding of how the bags work from that thread I linked in the previous post, and see some other members results after months of curing in them too!
I’m now trimming and everything is going great but when I got to my biggest bud and broke it into a few smaller buds, it’s very immature looking (not ripe) and very moist. Y’all have any ideas why ??
You are good. It has to cure.
@Storm … Agreed. Gonna be at least 2wks , but sure… smoke it, and report back
I have some limey internals too
The inside should be moist, thats what the cure is for. It needs to be sweat out slowly. Burping the jars over the next couple weeks will do just that. Great looking flower. Out if curiosity, when you say unripe…what do you mean? Coyld you offer an example of what you thought it should look like?
Mirroring what the others have said here, you’re good to go, and congratulations!! The buds will get drier and look more like what you’re used to after curing don’t worry
