So today I took some of my lower buds that wheren’t going to amount to nothing and I was going to make some oil out of them. So while doing the alcohol soak I noticed little tiny seeds floating on the top. So did one of my plants Hemie or is it normal to have small underdeveloped seeds in your buds.
I have looked at all the plants and there is only one that seems suspect, which I pulled.
PLEASE HELP! this is really bothering me
Heres a pic, these are small seeds
I’m just freaking out. Then I pulled one I thought was male and it wasn’t. I’m just getting the pre-harvest jitters. If you can remember the title I could try to find it. I would like to read all the replys @ktreez420
They all had the little hair coming out of the Calyx
Can one branch Hemie or if I see this on one branch then the whole plant is OK
Thanks for all the help. This is my first grow and as I said am 28 days into flower and I don’t want to screw it up now. I just need to learn and understand whats going on so I can proceed in the appropriate direction.
Yes that is what I was asking. The reason being, I have checked the plant for female characteristics and they all have the calyx with the hair coming out. Do I need to check all the branches
Can a plant show female characteristics and still be a Hemie and can that plant pollinate the other plants
I would check all the branches if it were me, and yes hence the name Hermie that is a plant that expresses both male and female sex organs on the same plant, which then means you have flowers with seeds.
If there is a hermied plant in a room with other plants yes its definitely possible for it to pollinate other plants in the same room.
So how am I going to tell which plant its is if they show both sex traits, Will the branch that Hemied show male sex characteristics? What are some other signs I can look for
Stress induced look for yellow bananas if its a hermie by trait then yes it will, show both and start seeds that mature in 3-6 weeks. Same with stress induced it will take 3-6 weeks to mature.
If being genetic than, instead of having yellow bananas they will have calyx appear really swollen which you would eventually see seeds forming in there wrap a peace of tape over one very lightly to mark the one you are trying to keep an eye on
In my (limited) experience, stress can cause the hermaphroditism (is that a word?) to show up later in the grow (maybe it STARTS the biological process right at the time of stress, but it isn’t visible until later).
I had it happen in my last run - I didn’t catch it until it was too late. I think the seeds I used had hermaphroditic tendencies due to how it was made. It was not a reputable source. And I wasn’t experienced enough to catch it. I had one hermie on me this run as well - but fingers crossed that I caught it in time.
I have seen them as nanners and as new flowers coming off of nodes.
