Did these plants Hemie?

So today I took some of my lower buds that wheren’t going to amount to nothing and I was going to make some oil out of them. So while doing the alcohol soak I noticed little tiny seeds floating on the top. So did one of my plants Hemie or is it normal to have small underdeveloped seeds in your buds.

I have looked at all the plants and there is only one that seems suspect, which I pulled.

PLEASE HELP! this is really bothering me
Heres a pic, these are small seeds

I think someone else actually posted a topic just like this a couple months ago, I forget how long.

But I also think we determined it was undeveloped seeds?

I’m just freaking out. Then I pulled one I thought was male and it wasn’t. I’m just getting the pre-harvest jitters. If you can remember the title I could try to find it. I would like to read all the replys

@MAXHeadRoom,

Are you seeing seed, or just the seed pod (calyx)?

@MAXHeadRoom was going to ask same question as Dumme thatvwas what the other guy was seeing in the end :+1:

calyx that are air tight!

Just a little more back ground into this problem.

  1. These seeds are ILGM Gold Leaf feminized seeds.
  2. I am only 28 days into flower
  3. 2 plants had 4 stress related incidents (Thelma and Louise)
    A. Misters clogged
    B. Power outage for 6 hours
    C. Water ran dry
    D. Nute burn
  4. The other 4 plants where started in soil and transferred into an aero system. This is the only stress that they have had.

This is a microscope picture

They really look like little seeds

I checked all the plants and they had female traits like this picture

They all had the little hair coming out of the Calyx

Can one branch Hemie or if I see this on one branch then the whole plant is OK

Thanks for all the help. This is my first grow and as I said am 28 days into flower and I don’t want to screw it up now. I just need to learn and understand whats going on so I can proceed in the appropriate direction.

Are you asking if one branch can hermie and the rest of the plant be ok?

If so there could be a possibility of any thing around being hermied especially if it was stress induced

Yes that is what I was asking. The reason being, I have checked the plant for female characteristics and they all have the calyx with the hair coming out. Do I need to check all the branches

Can a plant show female characteristics and still be a Hemie and can that plant pollinate the other plants

Just found this in the oil. It is not hard but the best pic of ehats going on

I would check all the branches if it were me, and yes hence the name Hermie that is a plant that expresses both male and female sex organs on the same plant, which then means you have flowers with seeds.

If there is a hermied plant in a room with other plants yes its definitely possible for it to pollinate other plants in the same room.

Keep an eye on the rest of them

So how am I going to tell which plant its is if they show both sex traits, Will the branch that Hemied show male sex characteristics? What are some other signs I can look for

Stress induced look for yellow bananas if its a hermie by trait then yes it will, show both and start seeds that mature in 3-6 weeks. Same with stress induced it will take 3-6 weeks to mature.

If being genetic than, instead of having yellow bananas they will have calyx appear really swollen which you would eventually see seeds forming in there wrap a peace of tape over one very lightly to mark the one you are trying to keep an eye on

So mine being ILGM feminized seeds, I would just look for the bananas right? The bananas will be in the buds Right?

Since I know that these plants have been stressed, does the hermie happen at the time of stress or can it show up later in the grow

In my (limited) experience, stress can cause the hermaphroditism (is that a word?) to show up later in the grow (maybe it STARTS the biological process right at the time of stress, but it isn’t visible until later).

I had it happen in my last run - I didn’t catch it until it was too late. I think the seeds I used had hermaphroditic tendencies due to how it was made. It was not a reputable source. And I wasn’t experienced enough to catch it. I had one hermie on me this run as well - but fingers crossed that I caught it in time.

I have seen them as nanners and as new flowers coming off of nodes.

I haven’t seen any nanners but I will look on the nodes. Will it be on the lower or upper nodes?
A what point in flowering does it usually show up?
