so i entered the flower stage about three days ago. i havent got into vpd yet. i saw the charts when going through old threads. i eventual plan on using vpd however this is my first grow and im already processing so much.
in veg i had R.H around 50 to 60 ive been slowing trying to drop it since seedling stage. as i stated i recently flipped to flower. i couldnt keep the R.H below 50 using just my exhaust fan and air circulation fan(s). so i purchased a dehumidifier. also purchased and ink bird humidity controler.
well i didnt do my research properly because the inbird doesnt work with “every dehumidifier and humidifier” not these days with things not having manual switches. once it shuts down it doesnt turn the unit back on. it sends it power however theres no little person in my tent to hit the on button. nor dos the dehumidifier have auto restart incase power goes out.
so i got to looking on amazon. couldnt find much that had a manual switch, or an app that you could set parameters ( for under $100) also ones i did see that you could set the R.H they didnt go below 45%
the little on i purchased is keeping my 4x2 at 45%
soooo… does humidity need to drop below 45%
There are tons of variables based on our individual set ups, but generally it’s better to keep the dehumidifier in the lung room (room the tent is in), and then have your exhaust fan draw air from the lung room into the tent. You can just set the dehumidifier to the percentage you want and let it run.
if its drawing air in… its not an exhaust fan… i have all my traps shut because i dont want light in. and my exhaust fan is blowing out
i know theres alot of different ways to do things. ive always hard that ypou put fans on the bottom blowing in and you have an exhaust fan sucking that air out.
One intake on bottom and one exhaust on top opposite the intake side. I still haven’t figured out vpd just yet but i did run dehumidifier in lung room. It makes it easier to control tent in my opinion. Intake fan will pull dry air into tent from lung room. I use a ge 22 pint dehumidifier some of the models come with wifi and ge app.
You will be just fine at that RH
@Bluedream1 my lung room is my bed room. lol also what do you have for an intake fan? i jhave two fans blowing air around but all my traps are shut bcause i dont want any light gtting in my tent. 12 hrs of UNINTERUPTED darkness. i hear you get light two days in a row it can start flowering process all over. so ive been real warry of any light
also even blowing dryer air in wont be much good in a tent in summer it hot up here in summer
Run ac in lung room. Im in the hot south tent runs 81 with lights on low 70 out. I use room ac as normal to cool lung room .
