This being my first indoor grow, I don’t know if I have a problem or not, but I am concerned when the girls arrive at late flower stage. I’m using ACInfinity equipment controlled by a 69 PRO+. 6”exhaust, humidifier, and an IONFRAME EVO3 280W light. The lung room is a small (450 sqft) extra bedroom and during the hottest part of the day, is bedtime for the girls (6 hours). During this time, the lung room is at 75 degrees and 51-52% RH, while the tent cools to 71 degrees and RH is at 61%. That’s too much me thinks. I have to vents wide open at the bottom of the 2x4x72 tent. I’m growing in VPD mode targeting leaf VPD, and with the girls in early flower, I’m seeking 1.0-1.3 VPD. When it’s bedtime in the tent, I can’t get the humidity to drop lower than 60. I could try a mini dehumidifier in the tent, but I think that’s a futile effort. The plants are in 7 gallon fabric pots and it takes about 2 gallons each feeding for each plant and surely that’s the reason for the high humidity.
Would a larger dehumidifier in the lung room bring the RH down? I think maybe get the lung room down to 45% may help.
Lights off humidity shouldn’t be a concern. If it does bother you, rather than doing another dehumidifier try increasing the temps. For me humidity is lowest when lights are off.
I have the same issue in my 2x4 when I try to run three plants my humidity stays 60% give or take 5% of course.
I’ve learned so far that the high humidity is not so bad if you can keep the air moving at all times. If you can get the humidity to drop down the buds will be denser for sure. Move your dehumidifier near the openings at the bottom of the tent and hopefully it will pull the dry air in.
Often times in flower my RH is 60-65%, I keep the air circulating and exhausting. Defoliation helps as well. I haven’t t had any issues knock on wood or my head
Mine used to run at 60 before I upgraded my dehumidifier. You should be good if lung room gets to 50 % or less in flower. It’ll carry over to the tent. Keep plenty of air moving if you can’t get below 60. It’s manageable but will require plenty of airflow. I think humidity has been kicking everyone’s butt this year!
I got a 22 pint GE dehumidifier for just that reason. I set it just outside the lungroom door and my exhaust vent points at the door to keep the heat out. Turns out it dehumidifies my whole house. 1600sq ft
Thanks! So you keep the dehumidifier outside of the lung room and it brought the humidity down in the lung room? I bought a new HVAC system for my house a few years ago. The one I replaced was in the house when it was built by the original owner and it wasn’t cutting it. High electrical bill was killing me July-September with $400+ monthly bills. The new system is much more effective and efficient and uses “feels like” technology. It keeps the house around 50-55% RH throughout the year. I need the bedroom the tent is on to be around 43-45% RH
The dehumidifier keeps my whole house in that range and I live in a very hot humid southern state. I too just had my a/c replaced and has no problem with the minimal heat the dehumidifier produces.
The small tent units won’t get the rh below 55-60% anyway. If you read the fine print and specs they even state that. For me it was a well spent $200 on Amazon. Solved my problem immediately.
