My humidity is running around 70% during the day. My 5x5 grow tent is in my basement. Fans are going, temp is around 75 but i cant get the hunidity down.
Nice plants, I have to use a dehumidifier to get mine down. I assume you have a in-line fan pulling air out of the tent and oscillation fans directed at your plants?
I see the oscillation fan but no in line . Do you only have the one fan going?
I’m in a 5x5 too.
Start with this to know what you actually have. It looks like your hygrometer sensor is in the canopy, I generally keep mine a few inches above, if it’s touching the leaves it will be off.
I believe any tent needs a lung room if your local climate has higher humidity. My lung room is only 8x12 and I use a 50 pint per day dehumidifier which if I don’t run to drain needs the 1.8 gal reservoir emptied twice a day. The RH in my lung room stays at 30% or below. Control your basement climate and your tent will be MUCH easier to control.
If you use an inline fan, it’s sucking your basement climate into the tent, even a monster dehumidifier won’t have time to work before that air is exhausted out.
I also see catch pans, those need to stay empty.
Cool dry air comes in the bottom (open vents) warmer humid air exhaust out the top. It needs to leave the lung room. If you are exhaust back into the basement, you’re just circulating humid air.
Thank you for the input. I’m going to readjust everything today.
No worries, it’s a process learning all this stuff, even seasoned vets are still learn’n.
Please report back and let us know how you do.
BTW, if you do get a larger dehumidifier, make sure to get one which comes back on after a power outage. Things can go sideways in a hurry.
Do you have a window to exhaust through. If you do ac infinity makes a window kit to hook your hose to. Or perhaps you can install a dryer vent to the outside and hook your exhaust hose to that. Let me know if your problem clears up. Happy growing
Absolutely. I appreciate the feedback.
This will dry basement and tent.
Exhausting tent air will have smell during flower.
Fresh air supply?
My 50 pint dehumidifier, has worked for 8 years.
New one has “pump dump” capability.
I run a 22 pint GE dehumidifier which has a hose attachment if you have a foor drain. It brings the RH down in my whole house to 35-45% and I live in the very humid deep south. I believe it was under $200 on Amazon.
PNW resident.
One Dehumider in lung room and one in house for Wife, used for drying wrinkle-free clothing. Clothes are hung in doorway, on tension rod.
Thanks for the advice!
Looks like you’re trying to use an exhale bag? If your grow space isn’t sealed it is a waste of $ imo. Good luck
I took the co2 bag out. I’ll attach and updated photo of the tent.
Waste of money with a sealed environment IMO. Normal breathing around them provides more CO2
Thanks @OGIncognito always appreciate the knowledge.
Anytime Growmie, I’ll share all my misstep remedies or dos and don’t….there are and was many
Very nice, good looking plants that are loving it
